la tech ranked 23

I don't know how much this matters but La Tech is 5-0 going into the A&M game this week in which they will be the hosts.

Their 5 wins are (with records):

Houston (2-5)
Rice (1-5)
Illinois (2-4)
Virginia (2-4)
UNLV (1-5)

Now they face A&M (4-1) which was originally scheduled for their 1st game of season but ppd due to hurricane Isaac.

Weren't we ranked #23 for one week this season?

My bet is that their #23 ranking will be short lived.

It's a anything connected to Dooley thing.

(cue twilight zone theme music).

Well, it's not popular, even though it's true, but he did get them their first and only bowl win in the last 30 years. Wait, the La Tech people probably still like it. It just gets in the way for UT people.

Didnt Sumlin postpone the suspension of some players when this game was moved?

Probably because La Tech was Disision I-AA thirty years ago. Every head coach as taken them to a bowl since they joined the WAC in 2001.

They've played in four bowl games since 1990 as a D-I school. They're 1-2-1. Dooley led the team that has the one bowl win. Just give him credit and move on.

I'll give him credit for winning. I just don't believe it's that great of an accomplishment. IMO, outside of the NC, winning a bowl means little other than maybe confidence for next year if most everyone is returning. Coaching them up throughout a 12 game season and earning the opportunity to reach a bowl is an accomplishment in itself (on a consistent basis). As others pointed out, he didn't really do much more than anyone before him. Once in three seasons means very little to me.

Only credit Dooley deserves for this team is leaving Dykes some quality players. He has done what DD couldn't with them.

Maybe La Tech current coach is the one we want. If they beat a&m we should take advantage of our la tech connection.

Article in Sporting News with quotes from La Tech players about their dislike of Dooley. Sounds about right.
