HOW ABOUT EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED THE TOURNAMENT POST WHERE THEY CAME FROM/MILES OR HOURS TO GET TO JACKSONVILLE.

I'll start:

1) Knoxville, Tennessee @9.5 hours

FYI the total attendance, announced at Sunday's game, was 25,000+.

The orange was definitely down from previous championship games, even the ones when we did not make the Final. SC brought in 4 bus loads today, that had to have helped the total numbers.

We came from Nashville but stayed overnight in Georgia and took our time. Lots of Orange but not like it used to be.

These fans are way too dedicated to be given the short end of the stick. Thes fans are the best and they deserve the best. Mr. Hart respect the fans, the LV program, Pat's legacy and give the program what it needs and deserves, a top 10 program viaing for a national title on a yearly basis. Admit that this coaching staff was a mistake and move forward. Please do not destroy the storied program that Pat built.

Martic, LVJeff, Orangmaniac, DonnieVol,

Over a 1,000 views, but only we 5 have posted we were there. I wonder if the very large majority of tournament attendees are not on the board. I know some people may not care to respond, and also the LVs have many great supporters (mule, gule, etc.) who were not be able to make the Tourney. But a comment/question. I thought the fan atmosphere at the arena was much more positive and supportive than what the overall atmosphere on the board appears. Did you all get the same impression?

I found the support for the team to be there but everybody I talked to that I see every year at the tourney asked me if Holly would be fired this year. The answer is no of course but if the people I talked to had a say so about it, she would be gone. No one I talked to had any confidence in her to be successful. I have actually never talked to anybody at a tourney or an away game that thought Holly would be a good coach and that goes all the way back to Pat's last year. People at home games are slightly more optimistic. I remember Holly's first year discussing her with a gentleman who officiated games Holly played in in high school. His opinion was she was a good person but not head coaching material.

It isn't always about attendance at the game. Yes, our girls want to see a sea of orange but people had a reason to stay home (See John Adam's column)... Expectations play into attendance as well as loyalty. Thoughts like:

"Will my expense-trip be rewarded with another trip or have i wasted this money??.... or; Should i spend the exact amount it would take to go see day one, or would i rather take the work-day off and go see a more important game with the same expenses in my private life... I can wait on the second round because this is a game that we won't lose. I mean we already made history with the once, right???.... Oops, we did lose the unimportant game... shucks, missed my opt to see them at the SEC... sigh."

There are people like me, blue collar, who cant just take a trip anytime we want to. But I record those games, go to my man-cave and dare anyone to interrupt me. I am just as loyal as those on the stand, just not as blessed with the ability to immediately change my private-life geography.

Going to the tourney is more about priorities. We know it's going to cost us 1000 to 1200 every year except when it's in Duluth. That is a choice we have made for nearly 20 years. It is one of our 2 vacations a year. I will admit I had alternative plans to move on if they had lost the first game and this is also the first year we really questioned whether we should go or not. We are glad we did as it was good to see our tourney friends and we saw some good games.

I was in attendance for the SEC tournament. We went to all but 1 game and always in Lady Vol attire. The amount of Orange even on the first day when the Lady Vols were not playing was amazing.

No team had the same level of fan support. I will be at the Final Four as always this year and will still be in Lady Vol attire. Although I might don a South Caroline visor as required.

I forgot we traveled 3 hours from The Villages, FL to Jacksonville. Only thing about that was avoiding the speed traps along the way.

Two things. First, I love that it was at a beach where fans could have a good time in case their team lost early. Glad we didn't. Second, I love that South Carolina fans have embraced their team and have traveled to support it. The busses for Sunday's game made it even better.

I have always liked how Tennessee fans turn the tournament into a home game, but I am also glad at least one other fan base is starting to show up. I'd rather the players get to play in a full arena split 50/50 than a half-empty gym with a majority of our fans.

I think LV fans attending games are too classy to boo their team or openly show disgust. I have attended only one game this year. I found the fans supportive of the team but several had questions concerning how they are being coached. I would not take the mannerism of our fans, at games, as an indication that all is well. In reality, many may not believe that their loved LV's are crumbling right before their eyes.

Good number of Kentucky fans there also. I am still waiting to hear where it is next year. Rumor was it was going back to Greenville, SC because of the Gamecocks.

This thread was just to try to see who was there, where they came, from etc. It was also not meant to be a bash Holly thread. Just a fun discussion for LV fans and to get to know each other better. For instance I knew LVJeff had Montana as his site, but I had no idea he had flown five hours to come to the tournament. Or that Orange Maniac used it as their second vacation...same thing we did for years:). (And, gule, hope your MIL is doing better.)

Again this thread was meant for enjoyment. But I did notice a much more positive atmosphere at the tourney than we seem to have on the board or even at home games. Everyone seemed upbeat and to be enjoying themselves, and a lot stayed even after the Ladys lost. Maybe it was a vacation attitude or maybe just getting to see old friends again.

I try to not to take it too seriously. Watching 20 year old girls in shorts run around with a ball in their hands is really kind of goofy if you think about it.

settle down little girls coach Jumper. LvJeff was just having a little fun with that post.

We watch sports for our entertainment truly but it isn't necessarily vital for anything. iow, it's a little goofy, especially the fervor some people give it.

If the season doesn't elate or depress you at some point... you may be a fan, but not one that affects anything.

Yes, I will be goofy for the game I love that has loved me and has been a part of my life for 34 years... For the girls who need someone to be brave enough to be called goofy defending them. I have fought the fight for women's sport from the gitgo. My graduation thesis was on Title IX... Yes, I am goofy for my "Little girls"... In games, practices, camps, clinics, tournaments I have worked with and touched the lives of hundreds of girls. Only twice did I have to work with boys... (It was like herding cats).

BTW the last last "little girl" team i coached from this very area had 3 little girls over 6 foot tall and now has five of the eight in college, playing on a scholarship. Don't dismiss those you don't know. I coached a player who was the third alternate on the USA 16u team (this would make her top 15 in the country),,, Don't dismiss those you don't know.

If I can't get on the court and influence my (YES MY) Lady Vols, then I will do it from here. And I will dismiss people who write crap and poke fun at me... And I will do my best to answer, converse with and have a meal with those of us who are goofy for the Lady Vols.

There are people here looking for answers. They don't want another season EVER like this one. If these girls don't have a good tourney, they are destined to be called the worst team in UT history (statistically) ... And that just ain't fair to them. The sum of the parts has yet to become a whole... Is it the ingredients or the professor mixing them, who failed?

If I can say one thing that gets in the ear of one of my girls and it is the words she needs to hear/read to get out of her funk... It's worth it....
