Lady Vol Attendance at SEC

I found the support for the team to be there but everybody I talked to that I see every year at the tourney asked me if Holly would be fired this year. The answer is no of course but if the people I talked to had a say so about it, she would be gone. No one I talked to had any confidence in her to be successful. I have actually never talked to anybody at a tourney or an away game that thought Holly would be a good coach and that goes all the way back to Pat's last year. People at home games are slightly more optimistic. I remember Holly's first year discussing her with a gentleman who officiated games Holly played in in high school. His opinion was she was a good person but not head coaching material.
I bit my tongue several time because some of the people I talked to thought we(the fans were being unfair, she deserves more time, it's hard to replace a legend... etc. Some were TN fans some not. There were also quire a few people I talked to that were LV fans simply because they were PS fans.

Good number of Kentucky fans there also. I am still waiting to hear where it is next year. Rumor was it was going back to Greenville, SC because of the Gamecocks.
Not as many KY fans as I expected. SC fans more and more showed up each game. Very good crowd support for them

No one is questioning anyone's allegiances.."...over a 1,000 views, but only we 5 have posted we were there. I wonder if the very large majority of tournament attendees are not on the board. I know some people may not care to respond, and also the LVs have many great supporters (mule, gule, etc.) who were not be able to make the Tourney. But a comment/question. I thought the fan atmosphere at the arena was much more positive and supportive than what the overall atmosphere on the board appears. Did you all get the same impression?"

This thread was just to try to see who was there, where they came, from etc. It was also not meant to be a bash Holly thread. Just a fun discussion for LV fans and to get to know each other better. For instance I knew LVJeff had Montana as his site, but I had no idea he had flown five hours to come to the tournament. Or that Orange Maniac used it as their second vacation...same thing we did for years:). (And, gule, hope your MIL is doing better.)

Again this thread was meant for enjoyment. But I did notice a much more positive atmosphere at the tourney than we seem to have on the board or even at home games. Everyone seemed upbeat and to be enjoying themselves, and a lot stayed even after the Ladys lost. Maybe it was a vacation attitude or maybe just getting to see old friends again.

unfortunately it can get mean on the Forum

I'm glad you got to go and had a great time :)

Thanks, mule. We did have a good time, except for the traffic in Jacksonville and the score of our 3rd game.

Don't know why we have to get so mean; some of it is trolls, some of it is haters, but some of it is just we. Guess we don't do losing well:), sometimes we don't do winning well either:crazy:.

Still got you two tickets center court when you can make it next season.

and some of it's,, passion, vol.... I am empathetic in losses and wins. I don't just watch them, I sense what those that are part of the game sense... elation, surprise, anger, resentment, questioning,,, the whole nine. Been a fan since 1982 or so... I can remember hearing about Pat Summit and I didn't want to be the only one on the planet who hadn't experienced such dominance. She too was mentioned as a John Wooden record-chaser.

With this in mind and a coaching background, i am focused on coaching when watching a game. Learning when watching games. I have only learned to be shocked this year. :

Things like: The sit down and quit charade. If you remember, the girls played better after she sat down...The hands on the hips constantly. Check up on this stance in psychology... The stare-down. Went from a glare of dam-you, to a stare of dam-me... And so... The record, the losses TWICE to a team that had never even beaten us once... and I would go on.

Yeah, Lil vol,,, I know I have been visible and outspoken... But to be effective in any domain, isn't that a trait that translates into success... Work, school or sport... I really wish HW would give me more reason not to pin-point her... I really do.

That post was not aimed at you or any other specific poster. just talking to mule. And I sat behind Pat when there were so few people in attendance I could hear what she said to the team during time outs. However, passion is no excuse for meaness or plain old bad manners. JMO and I'm sticking to it.

Again, this thread was not started as a bash Holly or make ugly comments about the players thread. It was just to find out more about who was there, how far they came, etc. There were more Lady Vols fans in Jacksonville than any other school, and someone made the comment they did not have as far to travel. That got me wondering just where we had come from to reach the Tourney; that was the only impetus for the thread, not any other reason.

If I could get it to ya...

thanks :dance2:... now that I am learning who is being constructive and those who are just being childish... I will be a lot less reactionary. . . I moved here from Atlanta 3 yrs ago. No school in GA rivals the following and fervor of this LV fan base... Well, except for maybe U T football. After all this is the south, where most consider it to be two seasons; football season and off season.

I just finished watching Kentucky win over Georgia and was reminded how much Kentucky fans remind you a lot of Lady Vol fans. Yes I know that Kentucky's fans are larger in number than LV fans, but the knowledge, dedication and the committment is the same. I remember before John C. Kentucky hired a coach from Texas A&M. He had a good season but was fired because it was not good enough, they then hired John C. And the rest is history. How can the Tennessee administration not be that committed the LV's program that is to women's basketball that Kentucky is to the men's game? We need a coach with The John Calapri potential, less slime, but the same kind of drive, knowledge, recruiting and coaching ability.

I love going to any lady vol game, even if they are struggling. I attended quite a few home games this season, but didn't get to go to the sec tournament because of job obligations.

Good to see what dawn has done with the USC program..their fan support is huge now!! I think they clearly will be the best team next year followed by ND who will also be loaded.

Coach Jumper, just bring it to the next home game:).

Boxer, good to hear from you. How is the newest pup?💙🍼💙 You do have him on your lap watching football and b'ball I hope. Got to get these little ones off to a proper start.

Our addition will be a year in May🎂💞. She has UT gear and then fast changes to UCF for football. Sits with mommy and daddy to watch games...and I have the pictures to prove it:clapping:. B'ball is all Lady Vols though.
