We should be ready to bring a lot of fight in this game and defend them for 40 minutes with supreme effort. It will take a great game from our defense to beat them.

We need to work all weekend on making layups under the basket. We have the free throw down now get layups and try keeping Graves under the basket rather than out.
Great last 6 min last night for Lady Vols!! Need to start fast Monday to win.

Go Lady Vols!!

I watched Maryland against Princeton and Duke, and I do have to say that they are a lot better than I thought they were. Very balanced, good size, and balanced outside shooters. They are probably the better team on paper, so Tennessee will need to significantly improve their 40 minute performance if they want to win this one.

They move the ball well, and their guards will be a challenge for Mass and Reynolds. I would like to see Warlick mix defenses in this game, and drop the half-court trap, which I think will only give Maryland easy looks.

Are we going to use the same strategy that we used against gonzaga? I would love to see us play with that same intensity that we played gonzaga for those six minutes. I wonder if holly will start nared instead of Carter ??

I hope I'm wrong but I think this game will be a blowout. Maryland feeds off the intensity and toughness of their coach and I look for her to come out and smash us in the mouth.

If we play 40 minutes like the last six of the Gonzaga it could be a tremendous game. I just haven't seen enough over the last several games to believe we can maintain discipline and focus that long.

With 6-6, 6-4, and 6-2, Lady Vols unable to play, playing any team with size presents a challenge for us.

Will be a great game.

The benefit of playing posts like Maryland instead of Gonzaga is that the Bulldogs frontline was much more aggressive on the offensive end and really made Graves/Burdick work on defense. The downside is that Maryland's posts are more athletic and physical, and probably will limit Tennessee on the offensive glass.

I think the game will come down to whether or not Tennessee can control the Maryland guards.

Last year she told her team if they came out and smashed us in the mouth we would fold. They smashed us in the mouth and we folded.

I worry we will be drained from the last game and never really be in contention. Hopefully we built some confidence and it will carry over.

Actually, the better strategy against us is to let us get the lead until we fold. We don't know how to play from ahead!

You give up too much defensively on the perimeter without her--and Maryland's guards are their strength. That said, Nared will get significant PT.

Now that was a fold. We had a complete meltdown, against a team that was good but nowhere near great, before the game was 15 minutes old. Never seen anything like it with this program. Last year Maryland had an AA who killed us. Great players always have great games against us, for some reason. This is winnable game IF we play well.

Maryland is more guard oriented and they rely heavily on their guards so doubling their post players isn't really a good strategy. it is a tough task for our guards. they cannot let Mincy, Walker-Kimbrough and Walker go off they must find a way to limit and contain them in order to have a chance. we need our outside shots to fall in tomorrow i think they will pack the paint and surround both Graves and force us to take the outside shots.

Don't sleep on Maryland's inside game (Particularly Jones).

It's what makes them so dangerous.

They can beat you any number of ways.

Full disclosure: I'm a Terps fan.

Ball pressure will be the key too, to limit MD's post touches, they post players have size and Brenda Frese hate the lack of respect they receive every time they play the lady vols. We better be ready, Maryland is a good team.

Draya guards Brown
Reynolds vs Walker
Amass vs Mincy...

How would you matchup?

Can't take the first half off on this team and expect to win. After Zaga, the girls know they have to start like they finished!

I wouldn't have Ariel on Lauren. She's their best scoring option, and is too tall and has long arms. She can shoot over Ariel all night long. Better IMO to have Jordan on her, or bring more size and play Nared at wing for a more traditional perimeter lineup. The three guard lineup can backfire with Maryland's perimeter firepower.

I think the key is will Holly allow Nia more than 4 minutes in the game? Burdick laid it all on the line last game & with the quick turnaround fatigue could be an issue. I think this is a game we have to allow Nia to play atleast 15 to 20 minutes (she has 5 fouls let her use them all) which could give Graves and Burdick a breather! I also think Nared has to be in attack mode! She has been really aggressive defensively and on the offensive glass but we need her to get to the basket and not be afraid to score! Ariel & Middleton must also take the 3 when they are open! I think our ladies will come to play because they smell how close they are to reaching a final four & knowing Maryland put us out last year is added fuel! Not to mention our seniors being the last class recruited by Pat which would be the first class back at the final 4 since her last title will mean a lot! They also want to get to the final 4 for Izzy! This has to be a game where Holly really steps up mentally! The nation wants to see a UConn vs Tennessee game again & we can finally give it to them tonight!
