Lady Vols 1st 4th Quarter Comeback

one thing that has been missing in a lot of comments,is that Green Bay is a scrappy team with an unusual Offense, that gave the Lady Vols fits at times, that is why Russell was out on the 3 pt line so much

I thought they should have played a little more zone,to keep the Defense mixed up

There are two seats between Mercedes and Bashaara. They must despise each other.

Why doesn't anyone want to sit with Andraya? She must be a real b***h.

Why are Kortney and Nia left out sitting all the way in the back row? I bet the other girls hate them.

Te'a is on her phone and not engaged. I bet she's texting how much she hates Diamond.

I was the manager of a collegiate girls team in college...everyone was not fond of each other....you sit by your friends so to speak during team outings...to outsiders everything looks fine....but to those who are on the inside you know there is not a team and it shows up in games

You make a valid point about where folks sit in casual groups, and connected, to some degree, to the perception of discord and lack of chemistry in this team.

I have no idea whether the players like each other or not, but get any 12 people at random from across the country and throw them together and I'll be very surprised if there isn't a few of them who end up not liking each other.

But it's not necessary to like each other to perform well on the court. Any discord between the players should be eliminated on the court by the coaches. Unfortunately, Holly doesn't appear to have a strong enough personality to do so assuming it's needed.

Being friends with someone doesn't mean you actively dislike others because you choose to sit next to the person you are closest with.

Besides, it's a big room, and there was space for them to spread out. Maybe there might be issues with chemistry between the players, but it's a stretch to interpret it from this picture.

Look at the picture again....then look at how the team plays on the court and how they act with each other on the court

Post players generally take two years to come into their own, let's see how she fares next year before she's declared the worse #1 pick ever.

But I do agree with yo assessment of her play, she is very timid and she's 6'6", it really don't seem like it, she' plays 5'11ish maybe.

I sure would like to see a new post coach, that position seems to have left Dean as roadkill. The only issue is you can't coach heart and aggression. You can demand both, but in the end that will be on the player.

Interesting observation.... These are not pro athletes who are focused more on their money and their own friends and the freedom that they have. These are kids still and what happens off the court with them does matter and shows in their play on it.

Holly should not survive past this season and those who are calling the name "Chris Dailey" better go watch the "Geno Project".... She is the good cop to his bad cop. If you want to pluck someone from that staff, you get Shea Ralph and you get her now. Because it will come down to her and probably Jen Rizzoti for that job when Geno decides to leave.

Dailey is the ying to Geno's yang and her personality is not fiery like Ralph and Rizzoti's are, which is why the program is as successful as it is under Geno, the fire.... Dailey is more of the extinguisher who re-enforces in a softer manner what Geno just gnawled a player's butt off for, much like Holly was to Pat. Ralph is fiery like Geno and right now, this Lady Vol team needs someone like her who has won and played in a program that is now the standard.....

It takes a tough personality to handle all of the personalities that you have to coach at the college level. Most of the girls were primadonnas in high school, several any way. They were the top players on their respective teams and within their states. You have to take these various attitudes and mold them into a TEAM with out the letter I. That takes a lot of tough love.

Timid nice coaches do not make good head coaches. Not to say you can't be a nice head coach but you need somewhat of a mean streak. As a general rule, timid nice coaches are peacemakers and feel out of place when it comes to tough love decisions. That is what we have now along with a head coach who refuses to change her offense, though it does not work. I also believe that Holly's timid behavior affects her ability as both a coach and as a recruiter. As I have said before, no matter what happens to this team, good or bad, Holly will have to be fired.

UT should go after the BEST coach they can find, whether it comes from Genos' program or not. Since they have had tremendous success, it sure seems like a good place to start looking. On the other hand, just because you've warmed the bench next to Geno that doesn't mean you'd make a great HC; you only have to look to Holly to prove my point. In this era of PC, and no guts, it doesn't look to me that the administration will do anything until the program is at the pure bottom. Everyone knows what the problem is but the administration doesn't have the kahunas to save the program.

I sure would like to see an entire new coaching staff. Period. :)

Tennessee has a post-coach?

I hope Holly realizes that it was guard play that won that game on offense and not the infamous dibble, dribble try to get it inside offense. We also played good defense, however, against teams like Green Bay, low scoring games are part of their survival kit. I still can't understand why our tallest player is playing defenses from the 3 point line. There were far too many inside points scored against us and we gave up a bushel basket full of rebounds, especially in the first half. Holly needs to rethink that defensive strategy.

Teacherdean, I agree with your post about Russell playing defense from the 3 point line. However, it worked! Green Bay was 3-17 from the 3 point line.

I would not be surprised if there were to be some feelings against Draya. She has won almost every kind of academic and service award available, in addition to strength and conditioning. And she is not a prima donna.

Probably grates on the nerves of some who are used to getting the majority of the accolades.

Not to discredit Andraya's achievements, but those are not the types of distinctions that college basketball players would be jealous of.

If she was a good player and was getting All-SEC or AA honors, that would be a different story.

Of course basketball players prize basketball awards. But if you are used to the light always shining on you and acclaim following you around, I think you might feel left out anytime it is not. In addition to academic, service, and leadership recognition, Draya also finished her undergrad degree in 3 years.

Someone drag up a similar unposed picture from last year. I doubt you would see a similar seating pattern. I didn't have a feeling of severe cliquishness in last year's group as I have with this one.

Of course, this is all conjecture on my part, as a teacher for 41 years and watching interaction among female students.

It almost seems like apathy more than jealousy. The team does seem to have chemistry issues. It could be a lack of leadership. They're a group of talented players that don't play well as a team. If they could fix that, they could be in the Final Four.
