And Ariel is in top five in all time assist. Numbers can be misleading.

Cos anybody who as watch South Carolina play and or played some their best ball, Cuevas is/was a catalyst.

Like, Reynolds and Carter mean they are better defensively than offensively; both sets of guards can be streaky.

Career numbers don't lie. Ariel has been the best passing point guard Tennessee has had in a very, very long time. As with her first 3 years, if she had a consistent scoring backcourt mate and wasn't the primary scoring guard, her assists numbers this year would be even better.

I've watched my share of SC games, and Sessions runs the team better. She's a better facilitator and takes better care of the ball. Cuevas is explosive, but careless with the ball. Every game I've seen them play, I've seen Bianca get picked from behind. 42 assists to 37 TOs for Cuevas vs. 70 assists to 32 TOs for Sessions. When the game is tight, you can bet that Dawn will put Sessions on the court over Cuevas. Bianca has more upside and will turn out to be the better player once both finish their career, but right now Sessions runs the show. And truthfully, neither of them is the catalyst; that honor goes to either Tiffany Mitchell or Aleighsa Welch. Those are the two players that are the top dogs on this team.

By the way Hi ! Amb3096; you make some good points but i will disagree with you on Sessions and Cuevas. Yes Sessions has more assists and less turnovers but she is such a offensive liability that they are playing 4 against 5 on the court. As Cuevas she my turn the ball over some times but make you respect her offensive ability. To me you can not beat UConn,Baylor or ND playing 4 against 5 not gonna happen. Look at how we have played most of year no offense.

Thanks! Just been reading the Sagarin, (first I had to learn a new language and then overcome severe eyestrain) and it looks, IMO, like Maryland should have had the 4th number one. I was surprised. Their Top 25 and SOS is impressive. Couldn't figure out how their conference compares. Not had the courage to go to Massey yet:)

Hopefully at end of season the top 4 and next 4 will be clear and there won't be a bunch of ravings on different sites. Right now, a lot on the Baylor site are :machgun:at UT, if they are an example, I hate to think of what the MD site is saying.

Surely, in the Committee's eyes, SOS has nothing to do with #1 seeds or USCe wouldn't even sniff one.

I don't know if I'd call Sessions an offensive liability. I've seen her hit some timely 3's, and she was pretty good against UConn.

Truthfully, most teams don't have 5 solid scorers on the court at any given time. With Mitchell, Wilson, Welch and Coates on the floor, I think SC is better when they have a PG who can make the smart pass and set her teammates up to score with the most high-percentage shot. It's like Niya Johnson with Baylor. She's not a scoring threat, but she's such an amazing playmaker that the team is better with her on the court than if they had a PG with more scoring skills but poorer court awareness.

I think Cuevas is really good. She had some nifty passes in yesterday's game, but she's a freshman who makes a lot of freshman mistakes. The SC offense looks much less deliberate when she's running the floor vs. Sessions, who is a better floor leader. I do think that Cuevas will end up the better player once she graduates, but I don't think Staley will trust her to run the show if a game is tight.

Would love to see Kim Mulkey's face when she heard about this coming out. lol.
While I agree Baylor is a F4 contender program this year, the NCAA is CLEARLY sending a message out to programs. Play some competition, you will NOT be rewarded for cupcakes!

I applaud the NCAA for sending out this message. :)

With the #34 SOS, USCe is "clearly" being rewarded by the committee for a cupcake schedule. He!!, Vandy has a much stronger SOS than SCe. The 'cocks can't be being rewarded for "past glory"....they have none. What's up???

A lot of talk over nothing as it seems certain that the loser of SC versus Tennessee will be a number two seed. With our injuries that would certainly appear to be us. These projection before the end of the season are meaningless. Right now the contenders for number one seeds are Tennessee, UConn, Notre Dame, Baylor, SC, and an outside shot for Maryland. We will need to win all our remaining games other than SC and win the SEC tourney. Or we could win our remaining regular season games and get to the title game of the SEC. We need a win over SC to be a number one seed and not lose to any other teams that we play. We can go 1 and 1 with SC and win our other games and the number one seed would be secured.
Injuries have really decimated our team so right now I suspect were a number two.

I don't know, bear, it gets so complicated it's like "who's on first". Looking at the numbers, MD looked good, which surprised me. My gut feeling is, head to head, Baylor would stomp them. SC's claim is only uconn has defeated them (and IIRC that seeding was done before the uconn game and SC was undefeated), and uconn will probably beat everyone this year. I pity Stanford if they meet them in the tournament.

I guess the committee has to have some kind of criteria to hang their hats on, personally it looks like a cross between throwing darts blindfolded and bias...but that is JMO.

Looks like we don't even have a weak hope left; good luck to Baylor - unless you meet us or SC:).

Baylor down at the half to Oklahoma right now 35-27. Wish this was on TV. If Baylor goes down and we win out...definitely helps our chances at grabbing that last #1 seed.

I've got DirecTV and am watching the game on one of the Fox Sports channels . . . I think it may be one of the alternate channels. You may have to have a sports package to watch it, but you might want to search for it on TV to see if you can get it. Unfortunately, it looks like Baylor is coming back. Hopefully Oklahoma can hang on and win.
