Lady Vols - Auburn Turnovers

The team has got to learn chemistry with Rae back in line up. Key has to learn how to stay in a came. Everybody new Dye, the point guards who can't dribble full court, and any other players that haven't really played on the road In the SEC, need to learn, that ticky tack fouls are called on the visitors. . Welcome to the SEC Of stupid fouls called, Key for one, should know about this, and Kelly should have frankly handle this situation last year, but I don't know how many games she's had to sit in the first half for picking up dumb fouls. And sometimes we move the ball around on the perimeter and pass it in and then throw it back out. For some reason we have the worst passing guards and forwards I've ever seen in my life, they'll throw lead passes, when they could do a simple bounce pass, which gives the player intended for the past extra time just in the trajectory and know where they need to be, but they'll just simply throw it in front of them out of bounds. No need too, if only to a big body girl that's got a girl on her back, she's not going to get the ball before her. And for God's sakes take your step and turn and shoot the damn ball, or pass, don't try to dribble or take steps. Jump in the air and pass the damn ball. If you don't have a shot. I wonder if they even practice that. But everything fell apart for them. Saunders is not the worst player that everyone makes her out to be, we just have to switch offense when she's in the game. For horsten, Ray, and Dye to all be on the same side of the court, never. never should happen. But I saw it happen quite a few times. I also saw the frustration on dye's face getting called for fouls. And Kelly Harper was an All-American point guard. So was Holly, why can't these ladies coach the point guards? Anyway all's not lost. We don't lose another game and we beat South Carolina, get best close by them, and win The SEC Tournament, beating them, we will get a number one seed. We have to clean the stuff up. I've seen teams with 6'1 and 6'2 centers dominate the boards.time for someone to step up, Horston or Burrell in paint seems logical, but Horston seems to be only guard with ability to beat the press which highlights the biggest knock on? Kelly, she's still has not recruited properly at this level. Level. She got died of transfer here which was luck of a COVID year. Other than that we're flying off like Holly left. Let's hope. Borel takes another year to recover and stays and green somehow gets a hardship year to play again. Otherwise transfer portal better be good for us or it's not going to look real pretty next year

The Lady Vols have had 12 turnovers in the first half and Auburn has scored 17 point off those turnovers. Unless the Lady Vols can turn things around in the second half, this could be a loss. Hopefully the Lady Vols get with it in the second half.
They play lazy and sloppy a lot. Winning covers it up.

I explained in detail in another post that it was not your TO's that hurt you. The Lady Vol's are not a good handling team. Against Ga. you turned the ball over 21 times. Against Kentucky you turned the ball over 18 times. Twenty-two TO's is not out of the norm for this team. The difference is Offensive rebounds. Offensive rebounds cancel TO's. A ORB is and extra possession. A TO is a lost possession. Your offensive rebounds in the prior 2 games 20 and 21. In this game it was 11. Green was your best offensive rebounder in the GA/KY games with 9 combined. It's obvious KJH hasn't been able to fix the handle problem and now must figure out who can replace Green on the O boards.

We've had three other nights of 10, 11, and 12 ORBs in SEC play and still won each of those games. Turnover and steals differential were the difference maker in this ballgame, and same with assists, which were way down.

It's quite simple. Rae plays better when she comes off the bench. Plus we don't really have a deep bench so her coming off the bench gives us firepower both defensively and offensively. Both times she started she tried to do too much and really wasn't sharing the ball much. Even though we won against Georgia you could still see it. It just was more masked against Georgia cases we won. Last night you really saw. It's not a negative thing that people are saying for her to come of the bench. It would actually help us

That certainly was not true last season. She played just fine as a starter against GA as a starter. She, like the whole team, had a bad game against Auburn and I don't think starting had much to do with it. Maybe the Chicago Buils should have used MJ as a sub, he sure would have brought fire power off the bench.

The most important thing for the LVs is rebuilding the chemistry between our best player, Rae, and the rest of the starting group. Tess as the 6th person off the bench makes just as much sense for the reasons you list. She brings an outside shooting threat and helps maintain defensive intensity.

Definitely, and soon. What's really bothering me about Rae is how quickly she's reverted to Wild Child again while the chemistry develops. I had hoped that was gone forever. The last few games she's doing slip n slide more and more. I'll bet Rae's been looking at a ton of film the last few days. Her shot is so pretty, how about we set her some screens out there. She seems to draw confidence from a well-placed 3. We really need her right now.

Have you ever been injured just as you were beginning to peak.
How under control do you think you'd be?
I know the coaches have done their homework enough to know Rae's path.
If not there are many sources they can ask

Of course she will revert to the old Rae first,,,but she will climb out of that phase quickly.
(To do so, Rae has to be made aware of the fact that she is taking that path)

BUT, she most definitely will walk that path (bull/china shop), bc, it is the path that got her to where she was

They will be better next year than they are this year. They are returning a minimum of 10 players, Walker will probably play another year which would make 11 and bring in the number 11 player in the country who shoots lights out. When you speak about Tamari Key, she leads the nation in blocked shots and will surpass Candace Parker most likely this year in that category to be the all-time leading blocks leader in lady Vol history and considering aggressive defense can lead to fouls that can happen. BTW, we are the number one rated defensive percentage rated team in the country as well as the top rebounding team in the country. When you talk about how bad the guards pass the ball, maybe look at a stat or two and you would see Horston and Walker are two of the top assist making guards in the SEC. Kelly has managed her team the same way Pat did and Pat's teams were high turnover teams regularly because they were ultra-competitive on the defensive end of the floor and pushed in transition every opportunity they had. Play defense, Rebound, push the ball and get to the paint. That is why they are 18-2. Not many teams in the country can say that.

Yep. Reminded of the games we lost to some sorry Alabama teams under our previous head coach. Let’s hope it’s not a trend. This was a bad loss. All the talk about a final four looks questionable.

You must not watched the games I watched because last year she forced shots as well. She has been doing that her whole career. The difference her sophomore year she came off the bench and even Coach Kellie stated she plays great off the bench and that's what they needed. Yes I know she had a bad game against Auburn. Hell the whole team did. Doesn't matter to me I feel like she plays better and is more helpful when she comes off the bench. Yes Tess can shoot the three, but when you have a Rae coming off the bench who can drive, shoot the three, defend at an elite level and bring emotion. That's a big difference. Once again this is my opinion

I agree with everything you say, Madtownvol, except for your comment on Rae as the LVs best player. I believe the best player is Jordan Horston, apple/cherry/peach turnovers and all.
