Holly didn't coach Jordan Horston one day and Rae Burrell probably wouldn't be playing basketball any longer had Holly been here another year or two.
Did she recruit them? I stated not a bad legacy for Holly recruited players.

Maria C. needs to just give it up. Her interviews are dragging and tired. Sorry, but I said it. #NotSorry Honestly I feel she’s hindering the possibility of top recruits. It may have worked in 1980 BUT it’s 2023. I’m just saying. 😉

What does Maria have to do with recruiting?

She’s always trying to “break” those stories and get/hoard inside information. Just not appropriate. She’s a fan and not a journalist based on her behavior.

Cora Hall does a much better job, is more objective and professional. I can also read her content for free.

Thank you. She does the most and it’s almost cringe worthy: I’m just saying.

Yeah I don’t like how she attaches herself to the program. She makes it seem she’s an official representative and she very much isn’t. She doesn’t correct people when they think she works directly with the program either, which is wrong on a number of levels for a media person.

Kellie seems more and more annoyed with her all the time. Her questions are now limited to one question at the beginning and end of pressers. Otherwise she dominates the entire thing and peppers Kellie with questions between every reporter. Most are not questions Kellie is willing to answer.

Low level journalist with access…she has a hard time taking her fandom out which comes across. Just another old guard that needs to get out of the way.

.... Yo may end up being a bit of a flash in the pan.
zakly my thought

Look on past and recent histories of womens NCAA BB...Tara, Pat, Kim, etc and you notice something,,,the women coaches who have lengthy success in one or multiple schools are for the most part Alphas. . . You see Beta coaches get 1-2-3 year runs, but the top winners all have that "approachable but don't f with me" demeanor.

Yo will be a flash in the pan
I'd just rather she flash elsewhere

We got plenty of recruits stopping in, so whoever is calling on them and scheduling them is doing their job...So its not on that end of the line

Wasn't she hired by the Knox News to do just that??

Cora isn't afraid to ask the question most people only think about asking
Just after the Ole Miss game,
she asked Coach K about changing the starting lineup and it elicited a truthful remark

As she is producing content for a site 100% for fans and paid for by fans, I don’t think Maria is bound by traditional journalistic rules and ethics. Her one and only task is to provide whatever tidbits of info she can compile to fill the insatiable appetites of hungry fans. She still occasionally mentions she’s “not a fan” in a nostalgic throwback to her former career as a sports news reporter, but IMO ya kinda NEED TO/SHOULD be writing as a fan if you’re writing for a paid fan site. It’s NOT the same kind of writing.

Cora does now what Maria used to do years ago, and when you are working from a newsroom for a newspaper the journalistic standard is different. It is important for a reporter to report on the facts, and maintain impartiality while doing it. Cora’s job’s ethics code is far more strict as a newspaperwoman than any person’s working for an online paid-by-fans-FOR-fans info site. As it should be. So please don’t accuse Maria of doing something wrong in her current role because she’s not.

Both types of work are valuable and welcomed by me!

Also, I have been extremely grateful to learn more about what’s going on in other Lady Vol sports besides just basketball through Maria’s “notebooks.” It has been cool to see what’s happening every week all in one place. Good stuff.

P.S. Regarding MMC's content, I feel like, for the most part, she still approaches her job like a reporter and does a great job. And when she does slip into fan mode on occasion, I am actually happy to see it. I don't come to ANY fan site seeking or expecting impartiality, and I don't actually even WANT hard-hitting, ask-all-the-hard-questions journalism when I go to a fan site, because fan sites are meant primarily as places for avid fans to get together to be excited about their favorite teams. It actually warms my heart when Maria accidentally lets a low-key rah-rah escape her typing fingers.

On the other hand, I want and expect Cora to do some digging and, if necessary, step on some toes on occasion. I like a sports news journalist that can toe the delicate line between rah-rahs (light profiles and features) and "what are you going to do to improve your offense"-type tougher questioning. So far Cora is doing a great job, particularly for someone who appears to be pretty young.
