Sorry facts hurt. The game was a horrible display of bball. Not one of you can disute it so you're just bad it's been pointed out. The worst display of bball of any top 25 game this year by far, not even close.

I know as TN fan you're challenged, This was an absolute display of not how to bball. It was a horribly played game, lack of basic fundamentals from start to finish. It was like and often worse than the slop you see when teams empty the bench and even play the walk ons

Well folks, the emoticons have spoken
:detective:

Some folks are acting like they haven't seen an ugly basketball game before, and somehow "pretty" basketball equals good basketball. We have some players now that play tough and a little bit nasty, and I love it.

That was good, tough basketball, and I loved it. Not pretty, but the kind of gutsy basketball that wins championships. We made them work for everything they got. Out worked them for rebounds and loose balls, and actually played above our current skill level. Texas missed a few chippies because we had physically imposed ourselves on them to the extent allowed by the rules of the game. Not cheap, but tough and physical at every opportunity.

I wonder how much of this is Bridget Gordon's handywork?

There's still a lot of progress that we can make with refining skills, offensive crispness, and defensive helpline/rotations, but daggummit I believe we're on the right track.

I'm about to say something I haven't said in 4 years, "well done, Holly!"

It took ugly to beat Michael and the bulls (The Detroit Bad Boys)...Ugly wins Natty's

in her first 3 years the LVs did dominant weaker comp and had many blow out wins. It was mainly the last 2 years that we saw this frustrating trend of the LVs playing down to the competition or not "showing up" for a game.
I argued a while ago that I feared Holly's early success was mostly a byproduct of having Pat's players and Pat's system. We seemed to get worse as a program as her reign went on. This is the first year early going we seem discernibly better. The question is, if true, WHY? What changed? Saying better players is a cop out and probably not even true. We've had arguably better players.

I am sorry you are so nervous and concerned about our freshmen guards and our power forward Davis. I think most people, though, are incredibly excited to have this infusion of talent, drive, and a team-first attitude. If that is a red flag, bring on the red flags.
I think I either did a bad job expressing my thoughts or you just interpreted them wrong. I put the Freshman players as a PLUS. I think they are collectively very good. I just worry that as a basketball program and system that we have generally been relying too much on Freshman. You win with upperclassman and their leadership. I remember when Bjorkland was getting starting time as a Freshman, it got a lot of attention because most Freshman didn't get to start. Lately it's become the norm for the program. I'll feel a lot better about our program when we have amazing Freshman like we do now BUT they aren't starting because the upper classman are even better and more experienced.

I think this schedule is great!
Maybe. I just hope we aren't in for sticker shock if they aren't as good as we think they may be. That's my big worry about the schedule: it may make the team look better than they actually are. I HOPE they are as good as we hope they are, but the schedule so far hasn't really tested them much. But, like I said, the table is set to be tested many time over, so it's not the end of the world that they didn't have some tougher games earlier.

.

Her failures were also a byproduct of Pat's recruiting...The girls were recruited for Pat!

CHW is a different style coach. . . Both the staff and the players were chosen to run with Pat...Now the staff and every player has been chosen under CHW's yeah or nay.

CHW's way of solving the problems, was to eliminate them ,, make/let them go away...Either way, she has chosen these players for her coaching, not Pats.

That is why she is having success now.

Not better or worse players,,,just different mentalities.

Guess who scored the most points on Texas..... Tennessee Lady Vol's 82 next was 70 points.

If you want to call the LV's dismantling of the #2 ranked team in the country horrible, so be it. Everyone is welcome to their own perception regardless of how ignorant it is.

LOL.,,It's the refs fault it looked like a CYO game between 10 years old, that are not capable of fundamentals.

It's not jitters,,it's bad play and bad coaching. Each team hadn't a clue how to run a set. You might want to watch the replay w/o the rose tinted glasses, but watching that debacle would qualify as cruel and usual punishment to anyone that knows basketball.

Obvious troll. LOL

A couple of thoughts. We have had a history or relying on freshman PGs, going back to CPS- Ariel Massengale being a fairly recent example. From what we have seen so far, Westbrook is considerably more game savvy and probably all round player than Ariel was a frosh. I think the role for Hayes suits her perfectly. I don't think she is quite ready to run the team in the manner of Westbrook. And Davis also has the luxury of being the teams X-factor. The leadership and focus of the defense is Nared and Russell with Jackson also providing an experienced hand. With redshirt junior Green in the mix and KD taking on a leadership role-- the team balance is really good. Don't forget the best team in LV history-- the Meeks-- started 2 freshman. Surely, you remember that?

As for sticker shock, we have fans carping about a 10-0 team so of course when the LVs--and the odds of them not losing a few games are quite low--the board will blow up. But, the goal, as I have said before, is getting ready for March. Its not satisfying anonymous posters on a message board in Dec-Jan. So, the process is going to be a schedule with an increasingly challenging slate of games that runs through the SEC. So, I don't care if the team is better or worse than their record indicates at this point because the litmus comes in March. I think not beating the team down in its formative first month of the season, made a lot of sense.

As for Holly, I actually agree with Coach Jumper on this one. I think it took a while for Holly to figure out the kind of players that work for her. She had a player mix that was largely a function in inertia from the CPS legacy for her first few years (and it is hard not to take on a transfer like DeShields) but it does seem like she now has a team of "her players" and they have a competitive spark and unity that has not been evident since Cierra Burdick and Izzy Harrison graduated.

The bad thing about it.....it was a UCONN troll! They must be getting bored over at the Boneyard! I heard they had quite an extensive thread regarding our game against Texas! :) Not the outcome many were expecting!!!

They seen the parade we were having and tried to come and rain on it....not today!!!

Now I wouldn’t say all of that 😂😂😂 but I think the last thing the UCONN fan base wants is a title contending Tennessee team.

We’re probably the only program that can come close to surpassing their total number of Championships in the long run.

I haven't commented much since the end of last season because my enthusiasm was pretty tattered and I was having trouble seeing the silver lining. Even with us supposed to be having a great incoming Freshman class, I feel like we've had great classes before, so why would this season be any different? I haven't kept as close of an eye on the team this year as I usually do although I have seen a few games and I went to the Texas game and had great seats - 105, row 11.

Even though the team is 10-0 and we got a great win against #2 ranked Texas, I hesitate to say the "team is back" as I am hearing many people say because of a few problems, but first, here's the positives I noticed from the game and season in general:

Spot on post which nicely reflects my feelings on the program since the end of last season. I've withheld judgment on this team until they actually played someone (none of their first nine opponents are currently ranked), but there's no denying the win over Texas was impressive and Holly has done a pretty good job with this young team early....
