Will have a 6 loss season regardless. Expectations are no longer final 4s and championships. South Carolina poised to handle the SEC for the immediate future. Deshields and Russell will make them better next year, but it's just sad to see Pat's program dicipate this much over the last 6 years.

Meanwhile UCONN only plays 6 meaningful regular season games. Their conference is an absolute joke. But they'll dominate Notre Dame and South Carolina because of Geno. Still, there's something to be said for only getting eval competition a few times a year. I can't respect their regular season record anymore. The SEC is exponentially tougher. UCONN's strength of schedule has to be terrible, even with USC, Notre Dame, and Stanford each year.

There are many Lady Vol fans whose expectations are greater than just making the final four. Injuries to our 2 post players have changed those expectations.
Can you clarify "dicipate" and "eval" (sic) for me ?
If you want your posts to be taken more seriously, you should take more care in what you type.

Teams without a post presence don't usually beat teams that have one. That is the difference in Tennessee and the other top three or four teams this season. Coach Summit won her championships with strong post players. Holly will have to recruit these players if she wants to get farther than the elite 8.
People can talk all they want about who can coach and who can't however you look at the teams that win National Championships and you will see a strong post presence. They have a blend of strong post players and great perimeter shooters. That is why they win Championships.

My expectations were much higher before the season began than they are now. I mean when ya lose players like Russell, Harrison, tucker and Jones, all of who are legitimate starters and three of whom are prolly wnba type players, then expectations def have to be tempered. credit holly for only having one sec loss the entire season with a very very handicapped roster. She's done a great job and should have had sec coach of the year award this season. As far as getting back to the final four, yes it's been awhile and the drought is unprecedented, however the lady vols are still in a transitional period, but we are trending upward and next years team looks as talented as we've had since the three Meeks. Remember, even with our legendary coach, we def had years where we just weren't that good and went long stretches where we didn't even sniff a NCAA tournament title. I mean we had that monumental three peat ending in 1998, but didn't win it all again until almost ten years later.

It's obvious that we need posts. It's obvious that we haven't been to the Final 4 since 08. I thinks its not only clear to us but to the players and coaches as well. IDK why some people keep saying the same thing thread after thread. I stick behind the Lady Vols no matter what. I think this team has done a tremendous job this year in spite of what they have been through and the season isn't over.

After a poor second half (really a poor whole game) Tennessee will end up being the two seed in Maryland's bracket again (reversing roles). Hope Holly can do a better job of getting her team ready in the tournament this year.

were you also one of the fans criticizing Pat Summit? You do realize TN went 10 years between National Championships....

It's not like TN was dominating the field before Pat stepped down.

So, of all that, you only took away a typo and a spelling error. Keep those blinders on.

We'll win the first two at home to get to 29 wins. I think we can probably handle whomever we pay in the sweet sixteen and get to 30 wins. The barrier is getting beyond that number. I think our best chance is if we end up with Maryland.

Strength of Schedule

TN #1
Uconn #33

Yea, UCONN gets up for 5 games then coasts. It's like Boise State in football several years back. But they'll dominate those 5 games and so people don't question them as #1. There's a lot to be said for having consistent battles all season and THEN having to play teams like Notre Dame, Texas, Stanford, etc out of conference.

Maybe, but it doesn't seem to hurt them in March....

How many times did Pat lose 6 games? And Pat wasn't handed the premier job (at that time, now UCONN has surpassed UT) in the country. Warlick inherited how many McDonalds All Americans? I get injuries, but I also think Warlick is in over her head. No one can be Pat or Geno. I get that. But Warlick appears to be a bystander during the game; hands on hips, hands on head, hands on hips, etc. There's a difference between a supervisor and a manager. Warlick is a good assistant, but not head coaching material. Any of the other coaches could have led this team to a 6 loss season.

Fyi Pat only lost 6 or more games 11 times in her entire career at UT (when in the SEC). And only 2 times from 1997 to her retirement.

Holly will be 3 for 3 this year in losing 6+ games. One Elite 8, one sweet sixteen. 20 total losses in 3 years. 20.

That'd be great for a lot of schools. Not UT.

Keep your standards high. Pat did.

Sigh, when CPS was handed the job, while a grad assistant, coaching a women's basketball was a far from a premier job as one could get.

If we are going to blame Holly for losses, then give her credit for out coaching hall of famers like Vivian Stringer, Andy Landers, and esteemed coachs like Mitchell, and Gary Blair. If you look closely, you will see that other coaches also put their hands on hips, hands on hands, they also breathe, stand up and sit down, drink water, and enage in a host of other actions. I have to admit that this is the most novel critique of Holly I have seen on this board; Look at that, she has her hands on her hips, tsk, tsk, tsk.

Obviously, this guy can't coach either:

Yes, I remember a time when 6 losses was a rebuilding year....

So you found one pic. Good job. Holly lives with her hands on her hips.
