Lady Vols out of the AP poll for the first time since 1985

So, I'm watching ESPN while I write out checks to pay bills and I see a flashing red alert at the bottom of screen saying Tennessee women's basketball team is out of the Top 25 after I think 565 consecutive weeks. Even though I expected it, to see it flashing at the bottom of the screen in red really hit home. It's shocking how low this program has gone. Not trying to stir the pot, but Tennessee becoming irrelevant in WCBB is becoming a reality and it's just difficult to accept. Anyways, let me get back to paying these bills. Hopefully things get better.

I just saw it flashing in red on ESPN and made a thread. Someone can delete my thread if possible, no sense of having two threads saying the exact thing.

I certainly didn't expect our fall from the top 25 this fast. Other than 1 seed Stanford being ousted by a 16 seed years back, I can't think of another team in WCBB which started the season out with huge expectations, only to have it end in such a disappointing fashion.

Anyone could see this coming. Even worse next year (if holly is the coach). Still not one single commitment for next year. Hard to watch them fall like this, it makes me sick.

11 losses...it would be interesting to see how many losses TOTAL we have had since 1985.

131 losses from 1985 to 2012 (4.85 losses per year)...
31 losses...and counting...from 2012 to present (7.75 loss/year...almost double)...

PLEASE, as a fan base...PLEASE let us not become apathetic adn allow our Lady Vols to fade into the dark night.

Warlick's comment that I read seemed to indicate she couldn't give less of a crap about it. Like Conan she will not cry...so like Subotai, we must cry for her. Unlike Conan, sadly, she will continue to suck as a leader.

Warlick's Comments about falling out of the top 25 and breaking the streak:

"It's really an amazing streak and a tribute to all of the players and coaches who've contributed to the Lady Vols' rich tradition of excellence,'' Tennessee coach Holly Warlick said. "The results this season haven't been what we wanted, but I assure you my staff and I are working extremely hard to ensure that our players reach their potential and, in turn, help our program attain the level of success we expect at Tennessee.''

Tennessee Lady Vols' 31-year run in the poll is over

Lol! She has no clue. She will probably be back next season, unless fired, and it will be the same sad story. This program is history.

There is no way in ____ that Holly came up with that statement on her own. They have some good writers in the athletic dept.

:mf_surrender:...this is what I read..."we give up".
I also read "we could give a crap less"
I also see (and you Fulmer-ites will relate) "we need to watch the tape"...meaning the same atrophy that permeated the football program at that time has invaded the women;s basketball program...dark days are ahead if nothing is done to correct the course at the end of the season...

But we did win our first national championship in 1987. So there is still hope for a dramatic turnaround in the next two years.

Only if the coaching staff is replaced. Otherwise even with top recruits, this program will stay stagnant. The coach don't know what to do with good talent.
