Lady vols ranked #19 according to this...

This seems a lot more likely to me than the other preseason rankings. Coopers rating seems low to me though.
My predictions- LVs top four in the SEC, sweet sixteen. Season ending ranking 12-18. Sport coat still not buttoning.
My guess would be 11-0 heading into conference play. I think UT knocks off one of the big 3 but loses a game they shouldn't to balance that out and then another loss, prob on the road, and end up at 12-4 in conference with a loss to UCONN to finish the regular season at 23-5. I think my math is right. Anyway, 22-6 is probably in play also but I'm betting on 5 losses.

Personally, I think the concept of a tie is about the dumbest thing in the history of fashion (no surprise, popularized by the French). It serves no purpose except make you extremely uncomfortable and exceptionally easy to choke out in a scrum.

This reminds me of an elderly relative who lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a fan of the Philadelphia Athletics, then owned and managed by Cornelius McGillicuddy, better known as Connie Mack.

Mr. Mack was known for his sartorial splendor.

I wonder what he would have thought of Bill Belichick.
That is really a good look! My grandfather wore a tie (bow) every day of his adult life. Started tieing it at the top of the stairs and was done by the bottom.

A thought on the "losing a game we shouldn't" (which almost every team does)...

I'm thinking when that happens to the "better" team, it's either because team shooting is off that night, or two key players are missing playing time on the bench with foul trouble.

Because our style of play encourages/rewards a deeper bench, and because of its positionless nature, we should always have more choices from which to put five players on the court in any game. If so, then percentages should be even more favorable that someone on our team can deliver a hot hand on any given night.

That's percentages. But watching last season's men's team, I began to wonder if the closer teammates are to each other, if in their "oneness" they don't fall into shared shooting patterns? When we were hot, everyone was hot. When we were cold, everyone was shooting cold.

For those who have been watching Lady Vols more closely and over time, have y'all seen a similar pattern among the recent LV teams who were closer in their friendships and commitment to each other?

"Oh, Grandpa wore his suit to dinner, nearly every day.
No particular reason; he just dressed that way.
Brown necktie and a matching vest, both his wingtip shoes.
Built a closet on our back porch. Put a penny in a burned out fuse."

Probably an element of truth in this observation. There are a lot of variables involved, and you didn’t mention the other team and their variables or match up problems created by the other squad.

The question took me back to Huntsville last year. Hard to explain some game results..

Good points. And we have no idea what a "bad matchup" will look like for this iteration of the Lady Vols.

My prayer is coaching doesn’t enter that list. 😉
I’m good with that list. Let’s Roll! 🤣
Equally deep, equally athletic and more talent will be what the “bad matchup” looks like.

I'm fine with going good-on-good and may the best team win.
I just don't want to face no female "Zack Edey" with Diplomatic Immunity in the lane.

Nah

Disciplined, smart, and big will be tough. A team that can break the press, get high percentage looks, low turnovers, and offensive rebound (see VT last year) will be a bad matchup.

No argument here, but even a big, disciplined, tough and smart team will require depth and athleticism to go four rounds of hurricane ball. That style of play is going to catch many teams unprepared for what occurs in the game.

@mcannon1 has been hacked! 😉
Barnes Arico beat Geno's all Americans at Storrs.

And remember Vic coming back from a 60 point final 4 loss one year to beat Geno in the final 4 the next year.

Geno was out coached by Barnes Arico and Vic.

I said what I said.

Or rather, I wrote what I wrote.
