Who will be the starting catcher? West or Leach?
I forgot about Puni. I can’t wait for the season to get started!I would say West with Puni getting some time there as well.
I don't see Leach getting a lot of playing time, except for the occasional pinch hit and maybe some starts in mid-week games. She only played in a little over half of Texas Tech's games last season, and hit .231 with 9 RBI.
West/Puni gives you the best defense/batting order. Not sure if Puni is the starter at 3B but I feel confident she's your DH if shes not. Her bat didn't come to Knoxville to sit.I would say West with Puni getting some time there as well.

I was surprised to see her on a top 100 player list while leaving Amanda out. I don' see it but would be awesome if she played to that level.I wouldn’t think so. Leach I don’t see playing but more a nod to the family and getting the twins. Taylor I see down the road once the OF opens up. Edmundson will be fighting for innings, I don’t think she had a good fall.
I think if parsons starts to swing away more she stays in the lineup obviously the occasional slap and bunt is nice, but when she stands in and hits she can hit the ball hard and find a gap.Puni will be in the lineup somewhere unless she is resting or a weak midweek game she is just too good of a hitter not too.
Karen gave Leach some love on the podcast but don't let the last name fool you she is here to be a bullpen catcher and play a little, much better options at catcher. Maybe she will surprise but I don't even think Karen believes that with our schedule this year. She gets to hang with her sister and help us so all good.
How long will Parsons last in left? Her record says she feasts on weaker non conference schedule then takes a sharp decline in average when competition increases. Very little soft in our schedule this year. I wonder what her D will be like out there as well was not very smooth in the fall but she was learning so we will see. I suspect Webber will be out there more and more as the year goes on. Hopefully Parsons tears it up cause there is no doubt Karen loves her and probably has the longest leash on the team. (Please let her swing away most of the time).
Gibson will be at third most of time barring a bad slump. Keene would probably be a starter at first in a normal year without super seniors.
Have a number of good options this year but will be challenged for sure with the schedule.
Fair assessment. Pretty spot on the way I see it.Puni will be in the lineup somewhere unless she is resting or a weak midweek game she is just too good of a hitter not too.

Pushes Underwood outI think if parsons starts to swing away more she stays in the lineup obviously the occasional slap and bunt is nice, but when she stands in and hits she can hit the ball hard and find a gap.
I could leach being a midweek catcher to get some full games in or catching some games the first weekend because the competition is not as strong
This has always driven me crazy with her because she has a nice swing and would be a very good gap hitter. Slapping leads to a lot of weak outs with her she has a lot of untapped potential. The podcast did mention if I heard right that stepping out of the box is now just a strike and not an automatic out. Holcomb would have loved that. And you are right small ball has a time and place but should not be a constant in today's game.I think if parsons starts to swing away more she stays in the lineup obviously the occasional slap and bunt is nice, but when she stands in and hits she can hit the ball hard and find a gap.

I like that rule honestly. I think when they first made the out of the box rule it was too harsh on the hitters because that is what they were taught all their life and it’s hard to change it when you’re in your late teens. I think that if Malveaux found that potential and can help her realize it then it’s good for us because it’s adds another hitter in our lineup that can impact the gameThis has always driven me crazy with her because she has a nice swing and would be a very good gap hitter. Never was a fan of that rule change, glad it switched over to this. This has always driven me crazy with her because she has a nice swing and would be a very good gap hitter. Wasn’t the intention behind the rule to level the playing field between hitter and pitcher? I always felt that it swung the advantage to the pitcher with it becoming an automatic out. I think it’s even with it just becoming a strike.Never was a fan of that rule change, glad it switched over to this.
Yes to take away those extra steps and give the IF a chance to make the play. You can call it 9 times out of 10 but that 10th time is the game winner.Wasn’t the intention behind the rule to level the playing field between hitter and pitcher?
