No umpire makes that call. It goes against all the things umps are taught. She essentially got tagged in the face, and umps always give the runner that gets under the tag the call because it defies physics that a high tag could get there before the foot touched home on the slide.

It's basically a judgment call regardless of where the tag is placed. A lot of factors like how far up the base line the fielder is and whether or not the runner slides directly into the base come into play. With the plate umpire in position at 3rd base line extended, he should have the best angle. In hindsight, the slide should have been to the inside part of the plate, but the runner has no one in position to communicate that to her in this situation. FWIW, as a former umpire myself, I think she was safe.

They got screwed in there seed and then put in a bracket with 2 top 25 teams, end of story. Michigan was also in a bracket with 2 top 25 teams. How does that happen in a field of 64, there should be no more than 1 other team in the top 32 in the same bracket. We go home while UGA advances having played in a bracket with the 38th and 51st ranked teams and having been beat all 3 times by the LVs, twice in GA and once in a neutal site. They finished behind us in the sec standings. Yea, you gotta win anyway, but they got screwed and theres no justifying it.

True, I thought it was odd that we went into the SEC tournament ranked 8th, won it, was then ranked 5th, but drew a 14 seed in the NCAA tournament. How does that happen?

They used rpi rankings and our out of conference schedule isnt what UGAs is because they can play GTech during the week while UT plays MTSU and ETSU. But that doesnt really explain loading the bracket with two other top 25 RPI teams while UGA plays an invitational tournament. They need to use more then RPI , theres no way UGA is a 6 seed and UT 14th.

Tennessee should substitute UTC and Memphis for those teams on the schedule next year. They both made the tournament this year, but UT didn't play either one.
