LadyVols opinion question

Losing Simmons is addition by subtraction. Russell will actually be a more significant loss....

My best guess for reg season is 24-5. The goal should be to get a decent seed for the NCAA's. After that we will see what the team is really made of.

you sound disgruntled armchair :)

I'm disgruntled and have been for years because our recruiting has been spotty, our coaching has been decidedly mediocre (even with PS for a number of years) and we've slipped. Haven't been to a final four in, what, six years? Gagged completely against Louisville. And while Warlick seems wonderful personally, and she's improved the recruiting (I will give her some credit for that), I don't think this staff is going to help us reclaim the mantle. On top of the coaching and recruiting issues, there always seems to be some injury problem--Massengale's weird head thing last year that lasted for months and she never returned, now Russell is out--a player whose absence will hurt us this year. It's always something.

Simmons graduation may help the offense....There was the "let Meigan shoot it" philosophy too many times the past few seasons. Give the new blood a few weeks of actual playing time, and by mid November, we will have a good idea of the team's potential.

Russell has to heal up, and hopefully next season she will be able to run the court without so much pain. I felt something had to be wrong with her, she looked so uncomfortable most of the season. She displayed a lot of courage playing on two flat tires.

Burdick has proven for 3 seasons she does not want the ball in critical moments of a game... She will not be the hero, not in her DNA. She is still a fine young lady, but not the basketball hero type.

Gule, without sounding negative "Who do you believe is appropriately rated?"

and Gametime "what would satisfy you that Burdick that she wanted the ball in critical moments. (and could do good things offensively). Simmons wanted the ball, Parker, Catchings, Larson, Head and many more. I agree that the team needs that player - but that player must get consistent results and that has not happened in recent years in NCAA critical time.

She has the habit in critical phases of the game, to either pass the ball, or dribble right, usually two bounces, and get covered so she won't have to shoot.

It has happened too numerous times to be coincidence. If she would just take the open shot, and even if she misses, that would be a positive.

As I said, the young lady is a great gal, but her game psyche has problems.

nobody

they all have been over rated. there is no player on the team that has competed to the level that we have been used to in the past.

the old saying that it doesn't matter the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog is appropriate to this group of LadyVs.

Help is on the way though in 1 more year. DD will bring back the win or die attitude.

"Overrated" according to whom? Izzy didn't come to Tennessee with nearly the hype of her All-American classmates Burdick and Massengale. She is maybe the only player on the roster who has clearly exceeded her HS credentials.
