Mine too. Have you put in the CDL T-case or still stock traction control? Our '03's were the only year LR didn't put in the CDL. Limy bastards...

No still have the stock but going to order one from toddco. I am going to install the stronger rear axle and change out the rotoflex, install new Panhard and tie rod, roof rack and new front bumper. If the front bumper causes it to sag in the front I'll put some 2 inch coils under it I guess. Right now I have 2.5 spacers with stock coils.

You are crazy to take that truck to covington pike bottoms. I hope you know the place well. Or it will end up ruining your truck.

Talked to Cannibal V8 today. 10,000 for new signature line motor installed. But that includes completely going through the system ans adding new parts such as brake, driveshafts, etc. May do it next spring.

I am sure it will be a great product but that is double what the whole truck is worth. Should be a top notch trail rig.

I am not going to get rid of it. I have owned a lot of 4x4's and this is the best one I have ever owned. Still have 2 scouts. But yea, lot of money but it will be just about restored. They aren't just putting the motor they are literally going through the whole truck. It will have over 350 ft lbs of torque and 300 hp.

Just remember the cooling system is the achillies heel of this engine and is easily toastable under stock circumstances (about 225 hp), let alone modded to 300 hp. I presume the Cannibal motor has the top hat sleeves, so the slipped liner problem likely won't show up in the event of an overheat. Sounds like she'll be a keeper for sure.

Actually just talked to my friend up in MO and he said he'll do it for 4500. And I trust him with these engines more than anyone. Yea the top hats are gonna be put in.

This what he said:

Your best bet would be a stage II cam kit, as well as some Ford Motorsport injectors. That keeps it very driveable, as well as making it run smooth and with the stock ECM etc. Last one I did was @$4500. That was a long block, using the customers injectors, intake, etc. If I build yours, I'd put all the intake, oil pan, etc back on for you if you sent them/dropped them off. On top of that would be a new water pump and the injectors. That gets you a ground and polished crank, bored 20 over with new pistons and chromoly rings, custom hardened rocker shafts and custom end supports, block decked and line bored, heads fully rebuilt, rebuilt front cover with new oil pump gears, Crower camshaft and lifters, etc. I have yet to personally see a block with bad liners that wasnt abused, but if you want top hats I can price them for you too. There are TWO places in the country I would trust doing them. Even with the top hats, you'd get a better motor with more upgrades, than the ones that Atlantic British offers, for a lot more money! Let me know if I can of help. Right now it would be end of Nov or Dec when it's done. Each one is built to order.

The top hats are to hold the sleeve in place in the event of an overheat. In the stock set-up, there is space between the the bottom of the head and top of the sleeve in the block (very little, but there). If the engine overheats (normal operating temp is very close to overheat for an all aluminum engine due to emissions reasons) a bond failure is likely to occur due to the dissimilar materials (iron sleeve and aluminum block). The sleeve then follows the up and down movement of the piston till there is a failure in the block. The top hats will keep the sleeves tight by the clamping force of the head.

It is an expensive process to do. If you don't overheat the engine it shouldn't be necessary. But if you ever blow a gasket, bad t-stat, radiator failure, ect, it is possible.

Kucklehead. When you plan on going back to covington pike. I ride a grizzly now. But I had a 4 runner on 42 inch tractor tires. Was a freaking monster. But... it's not worth the one time breaking in middle of the woods in a truck.

Okay. I am not going through the bogs. I went on trails made a few myself. So although my name may be knucklehead I am far from one. We used to ride those trails before the atvs got to them. So that being said...me no dummy. That pic I took I finished the trail that someone else had started. Just below was a huge mud pit. One other thing, the abilities and toughness of a Land Rover are incredible.

I also have two scouts. A 72 and 77. Gonna put a 440 with a nv4500 5 speed in the 77.
