i think the past USC has lost a game to pac-12 teams, but i don't see them getting beat this year by a pac-12 team.

An early trip to Palo Alto and getting the Ducks at home will probably be their big tests, but as somebody else mentioned, both of those programs are in rebuild mode right now.

3.4 GPA is not bad though? But a 3.4 ACT score, I wonder if that is even possible haha

If you have a 3.4 GPA coming out of high school, it's not very good. 4.0 or higher or bust in terms of even average intelligence at most higher universities.

and if you can make a 34 on your ACT, you should be able to never open a book and have 4.0+ at most high schools.

I sometimes wish I hadn't done any extracurricular stuff in high school so I could have had closer to a 4.0…you don’t need a 4.0 to get into Vandy btw, as long as you can pay, have around a 3.5 and not a terrible ACT you’ll be fine.

Had a 4.0125, 40 hours of college courses, three sports for four years (All region in one, all state in another) published writer, and a 31 on the ACT when I was a freshman (and took it three more times and did better each time), 100+ hours community service, and letters of recommendation from an alumni and from a man on the TN supreme court.

Didn't get in.

One of the professors from Vandy later came to teach at my school for a semester for a teacher on maternity leave, so I asked her why I didn't get in (when schools like Duke said yes) and she said the only thing she could think of was I wasn't a minority, because I couldn't have done more in high school.

If you can get in with a 3.5 from a non private/nationally ranked high school and just a decent ACT score, then you must have some excellent pull.

True but initially someone was making it sound like a 3.4 GPA was considered bad. I did not know they were just talking about high school GPA also.

I had over a 4.0 in high school, but then again high school was a joke.

That is almost unbelievable, those credentials are very good...did you get accepted without financial aid or something? Friend of mine from a Clarksville area high school was accepted to Yale with worse grades...

Tennessee almost never competes for recruits against USC, and their success has almost no bearing on how the Vols do. Or the Beavers for that matter, who recruit a base of local and national under the radar guys and JUCO while SC goes for the cream of the crop in California.

Tennessee (in better times, anyhow) does compete directly with Bama for recruits and play them every year. By that same token, I do root against teams like UDub, Cal, then Bama, Florida, Georgia, etc.

Tee Martin has changed that
