Large explosion in China

I 2nd this. From six feet under I wouldn't be able to hear the laughter.

Haha seriously. I mean the only thing that's guaranteed in life is death. I know it sucks but that's just what happens. And besides, I'd much rather go out riding a fire wave than dying a slow, miserable death at the hands of cancer.

Were you all cracking jokes after the Joplin MO tornadoes a few years back? If this happened on American soil, the tone of this thread would be much different.

A bunch of hypocritical jackasses, you all are.

Death toll has risen to 50. Really sad to hear some of the stories emerging from the scene.

People gathered outside one hospital not far from an area of badly damaged buildings, waiting for news of loved ones.

A severely burned man was wheeled past waiting crowds.

Some people collapsed from the heartbreak of losing someone close to them.

"Why did God take her? Why did God take my daughter?" one man cried out.

I'm certain that you all will be able to pull some outstanding one liners from this.

People freaking out about jokes must've forgotten how quickly 9/11 jokes came, or any of the shootings we've had.

Comedy is universal for a reason, and that is that it helps cope with tragedy and problems. Telling someone to not enjoy what they find funny or makes them feel better/safer/whatever is like telling someone to not enjoy their favorite food.

And the fact most of the jokes in here have been decent or really good helps.

It's a good thing 9/11 happened, NYC was really overcrowded. I bet the kids who lost parents love sleeping in their huge empty beds at night.

Damn, that was hilarious!

You've got a point there, but it looks like one of the earlier attempts at 9-11 jokes were from Godfrey and it went over poorly.

I'm all for a good joke, and it can be therapeutic, but I am just a bit irked at how quickly everyone is going all in on this. I mean at least allow them to bury the dead. Folks didn't even wait and see if anyone was hurt before pulling of a one liner.

In all seriousness, it's a sad tragedy. I feel bad for all the families impacted by this. Children have lost parents and parents have lost children and it is indeed a sad, sad thing.

That said, I cannot get the Katy Perry song "Fireworks" out of my head.

That's horrible reporting right there. Everyone knows China has Buddha and not God.

Maybe 50 is all hospitals have confirmed?

Seeing the size of that blast I'd have to think at least one or two more zeros will be added to the death toll. That was massive and it looked like it happened in a high population area.
