Maybe to many kids I the state read Volnation and buy into the "we are so sorry of a team from administration right on down through our best coaching staff in the nation" personally I don't think we help ourselves at times with all the whining. jmo.

If truth was told....I bet some of the top talent from this recruiting cycle were put off by this fan base calling for Butch's head after the South Carolina and Vanderbilt losses.

Even though Dobbs stunk it up against South Carolina and the defense had a total meltdown against Vandy....Butch should have had answers...we all get that. But kids of that pedigree believe they are the answer to some of the holes on the team to fix the deficiencies this team has...because they see how great the Tennessee brand has been and can still be. Just like all the top recruiting classes prior to this one did. Because kids truly see how much Butch loves his players. Because they see 100K plus going nuts in Neyland. They believe they could be the answer to get over the hump of 9-4 to SEC East Champs and SEC Titles.

Just a thought....but it probably isn't realistic right?

I am liking Coach Scott more and more. I hope he turns out to be a great OC.

yeah, me too. I'm excited to see what kind of a game he calls and how he changes recruiting now that he is the OC and has more input into who we recruit and where. Of course, if it all goes south this coming year, it may not matter. Another mountain of a year for Butch to climb in his attempt to revitalize the Vols for sure!

The areas and backyards that CLS is alluding are probably Texas and the Mid-West since Canales is on board. He brings relationships that we never had. In addition, Hokes areas are the NE plains. I don't think he's a big recruiter though, but with his experience, he'll prove vital.

Youngsters this day and time live by the internet, mainly social media. Need proof, watch you kids or in my case grandkids. They drive me crazy not paying attention to my sage conversations and advise, just looking at and I guess reading "stuff" on their damn handheld things.
The big trouble with that is they BELIVE what they are looking at.
Now, as to VN, just how many of us are some of those kids? Me thinks way more of those kids on here than us sage and wise old timers.

Probably would have been better to apply this tough attitude to the actual recruiting in the months leading up to this ho-hum #17 class instead of after it. Rings a little hollow, like Dooley's "you won't have Tennessee to kick around anymore" Nixonian media days speech.

What? Good grief. UT was behind in recruiting way before those games were played, and had lost out on Higgins, Rogers, and others before the season even started. Butch's crew has bungled some things and hurt some relationships in-state.

Fake criticism. Comparing a head coach to an OC.

I've been given the impression that he is actually a very good recruiter. You can't have enough elite talent at the D line obviously, so I hope he can land us some elite edge rushers and tackles.

Didn't really lose out on Rogers as there was not a lot a must have attitude from UT. A 5'9 220 slot receiver who is slow is not a must have recruit.

Recruiting goes on until signing day doesn't it. Warrior, Byrd, Kongbo, Richmond, Phillips, Malone, the Berry Twins....all went real close to signing day before committing or flipping. Higgins didn't want to be here at the end of the day nor did Rogers. Get over it....they wanted to go to the flavor of the month....if they didn't want to be here at heart then why hope they sign with us to later want to leave and go elsewhere?

I would love to be able to get a little info about UT without a bunch of pricks whining in every thread.[/QUOT

Pricks are everywhere in here. It's just a way of life. I've got half of them on ignore because they have nothing to say.

I like your style. "IGNORE" button might be used here more than the alphabet keys.
