who would've ever that a Jack Roush would win at California and Las Vegas. I mean his cars struggle so much at those tracks....:whistling:

(if only mark martin was still with roush! I'll take tenth though)

Very unofficially, I have aksn907 as high man at 709 pts.

With so many favorites having trouble, the scores are much lower than California.

This was the first time the COT's ran at those tracks.
There is no history to say Roush was going to good this time around. Hadn't Jimmie Johnson won the last 3 races at Vegas?

Yes in regard to JJ at Vegas, but Rousch has been very successful at California. I believe there is sarcasim in that post.

COT, real stock car or geo prism, Roush gets it done at California and Vegas. Roush has dominated both tracks and to think he wouldn't figure out those two in the COT is just foolish.

I had a Roush car in my top five,you had 2. I don't see
the need to be throwing around the word "foolish".
You covered yourself with 3 other cars in your top 5 so
let's not get carried away here. All I'm saying is that going in,Roush,Hendrick,Gibbs, and even Mark Martin had equally good shots at winning this race.Congrats on picking the winner though.

Here is the deal on COT as I see it. Hendrick teams spent a substantial time testing on non-Cup tracks, and Gibbs did to a lesser degree. Rousch did not do this, only testing on Cup tracks where you are limited on the number of test dates you can have. This was an attempt by NASCAR to keep the multicar teams from having too much of an advantage over smaller teams. There is no limitation on testing at non-Cup tracks, and while they don't race on these tracks, there are enough similarities to gain helpful information. Jack Rousch has been quoted as admitting he made a mistake that caused them to be behind by not utilizing these tracks. Rousch is just now getting caught up, but lets see how things shake out at tracks where Rousch has not been as competitive. It does appear the big advantage Hendrick had in 2007 has been reduced substantially.

Also, teams cannot use Goodyear tires at nonsanctioned tests. Another thing, it's hard to stay on top for long in racing. I don't see another dominating year from HMS this year.
