I figured this thread might slide here. And get a little more attenyion. It's not not directly Tennessee related, but it is recruited related. Never know, one of these kids could end up here

Anyone seen this on netflix? It's a reality type show based on Juco kids@ East Mississippi Community College (EMCC). Some may be familiar with the b2b National Champions. It's where QBs Bo Wallace, Chad Kelly, and Auburn's current QB John Franklin III came from. I must say, from what shows I've watched, Franklin is not the answer for Auburn.

Anyway it's a good look into these kids life. Their backgrounds, the trouble, their educational struggles and just watching some football.

Most of thsee kids are pure trash. Even the coaches are pretty scummy.

Some of you may enjoy, others won't, just thought I'd share for those interested.

It's a well done documentary. It's really sad how little so many of them even try in their classes.

It really is well done. And I agree, they don't try at all and they poor lady trying to help them gets not respect. It's disgusting the manners those kids have

I loved this documentary. Franklin is very average, but crazy fast. If he's who Auburn is depending on to win, Gus will be unemployed really soon. I loved the coach's passion but man he went overboard from time to time. I definitely wouldn't call the kids trash but they did have many struggles. In today's society many ppl on msg boards need to see this to understand the dynamics many recruits/ kids come from. This show will open many ignorant fans eyes to the educational and socioeconomic limitations many athletes experience. The program as a whole though is a big help for many that go there, and they win and win by finishing kinda like The Old Ball Coach used to by running the score up. I really liked the DT Ollie and I am keeping a close eye on him. We also reached out to him to help make sure he finishes school without problem as we have resources in Louisiana. Kid has crazy talent.

I did not watch, but is the school cheating kind of like North Carolina (in around NCAA thread), in that classes are not legit, students not doing work, or teachers changing grades? Just seems like a scam of a college from description.

I like Ollie as a player as well. Lost a lot of respect for him taking off like he did and smoking the weed on cam like he's something hot. Very bad move on his part and reflection of his character. I'm pulling for him in a way though. He does have a nose for fumbled balls though.

Law is the one who really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

NOT that I'm aware of. Wouldn't doubt something is going between them an Ole Miss though. Staff is just very unprofessional. These kids need better mentors

No in Juco s lot of time classes are online and the kids have to earn the grades. Nothing like UNC scandal, but a lot less is seen than whats shown. Ppl have to remember that there was a lot edited out. No scams or none of that at all. Just normal Juco life from admin and athlete side of things.

How about that one DL saying he couldn't answer because cameras were rolling when asked by a recruiter "what is it going to take for you to sign"?

That coach flipped the script quick. Said if you are asking to break the rules, we will not be doing that.

Ollie strikes me as a good hearted kid. I think he's been dealt a bad hand in life. Parents are dead (think I recall them saying that). Can tell he needs guidance. He wanted to make that lady proud. I can't help but root for kids like that.

VFL83 I agree on many facets of your post, but you have to understand the poor and poverty mindsets of Mississippi. I've met a many of kids with crazy talent that are content with just going back home and living like the guys before them because its the norm. While I hated Ollie leaving like he did, I think the head ache and concussion stuff scared him. Now Law is a typical poor Fla kid who had crazy talent, but zero guidance and brains. As the documentary pointed out his dad had been in prison until last year, his mom was never mentioned at all, and when he went home he was driving pretty nice if I must say so by hood standards. I remember UT recruiting this kid and hearing he had ZERO common sense but a plethora of talent. He signed with 3 schools on NSD and ended up at EMCC. So whatever he does clearly doesn't surprise me at all. Kid is really ignorant, but is a damn good Rb with elite speed.

That was all for tv, never trust a recruiter. They all do it on any level.

Yeah you can see it in him. That lady is good for him, but I think he's more sweet on her than anything lol

still not there still at EMCC taking classes because he failed a course or something. I highly doubt he'll make it at UAB long. He really needs guidance and leadership that's stern. If he had made it to Utah he'd probably have reached success

I'd also like to point out that this is exactly what Kamara was talking about after his JUCO stint. It puts things in perspective. Some just don't get it and won't until it's too late

I've had a many recruits say JUCO is like the closest thing to prison. Its also why many athletes drop out and give up.

Those kids said there's only two restaurants in Scooba. No girls in the dorm. That place looks miserable. Just asking for these guys to get into something due to boredom

What I gathered from the documentary? Auburn definitely has a bag man. Can't remember which episode, but Ollie was desperately trying to get to Auburn even when he wasn't being recruited by them. He mentioned being about the money multiple times. Connection? Maybe, maybe not

Ollie is wanting NFL money. His family is depending on him greatly. He said in one episode that he was going to enter the draft, but promised what's her name, he would still earn his degree

This coach is criticizing the kids for fighting, yet he was just suspended for it. Now he is trying to fight the refs, the cops, aND telling his team they knew better..... He only cares about his self. He ain't helping them at all.

Lead by example Coach

Many here lead comfortable, sheltered lives and will never know(or care to know) what a lot of these kids have been through. Most of these kids are from extremely poor backgrounds and read on a 4th or 5th grade level. But at JUCO's like this it is a mix. Some come from good families and are spoiled brats who wanted everything handed to them because they are talented. They end up at EMCC because they've blown opportunities at other places. That lady was excellent for those guys because I think she genuinely cares about them as people. A couple of the coaches as well. I have no respect at all for the head coach. There are too many things to list about him as a sh!tty person. This was an excellent documentary that everyone should watch. John Franklin III is ultra talented, but equally as selfish. Not the type of kid I would want leading my team.
