Last Third Saturday in October?

I care. I want to play actual rivals every year. That's like Texas not getting to play OU every year. It's a loser mentality to shy away from competition. If we can't play ours, nobody else should be able to either.
Yeah, that way we can puff out our chests and say we would have been in the championship game if we hadn't lost to Bama. Everyone else is too chicken to lose to them nearly every year!

Aww man, i would've liked to have read it. Your takes are always interesting.
Well, I know you well enough that I know you'd have agreed 100%. But someone would have been offended and said something. Then my response would have been...

Alot of other teams didn't play them every year and didn't make it to Atlanta. Other teams did play them every year and made Atlanta. Alabama hasn't been the reason we didn't make Atlanta.

"We" weren't chickenchit of Alabama until Saban got there and some of "y'all" were born.

Hah, I've seen the 70's, then 1982-85. We won in 1985 and the SEC Championship and then even with a better team could not win for 10 more years. 1990 was the worst loss I remember. The blocked kick and Bama kick for the win. We had a decent run for the next 10 years or so, but since then we've only won once. No, it hasn't kept us out of Atlanta, but it could in the near future if we are really "back" with our current coaching staff building a perrenial winner. Playing them and winning may cost you next weeks win from the beating and injuries from playing them.

Yes, based on what I have found concerning future schedules the Vols will play the following SEC games next season.

At Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt with home being Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Florida.

Dates and times are still TBD.

We go 7-1 in SEC play next year. Book it.

Last year Hooker got hurt playing SC and McCoy this year. Both season ending. Maybe we should quit playing them.

Or we could try winning the game and earning it. You're taking a right now situation and applying it to forever. Georgia and Bama have been at unprecedented levels but that's not going to be like that forever. I'm not for throwing away our biggest rivalries, the games that mean more than the others, just because I'm scared we might have to earn a win.

Will this be the last annual meeting of the Tennessee and Alabama with the new schedule format next season?

Is Saban sabotaging our annual rivalry game?

They play next year and I still believe the third Saturday will be saved for the future

Let's cancel Vanderbilt and schedule Alabama every year. Time for Vanderbilt to leave the SEC.

Vandy is a founding member of the SEC. They aren't going anywhere. The conference isn't giving up the Iron Bowl either. If the 1 permanent rival setup stands, we lose Bama. That's what has to be fixed.

Well, I’m afraid you’re gonna be disappointed

Never underestimate the capability of the clowns running college athletics to F things up.
The only reason I have that opinion is the sheer financial significance of this game
