Last time an OL class coming in like this one?

That sounds about right to me. Wins vs GaSt, BYU, Chatt, Miss St, UAB, MIZZ, Vandy (Miss St, Miz, Vandy will have new QB's) and win 1 of KY, SC, Bama, UGA, UF. 8-4 should be a reasonable minimal expectation.
Kentucky loses a bunch of its starters next year. I expect that to be one of our sure wins. If we recruit some speed, we could also beat UF at home.

This.
Taylor/D Johnson
Bituli/DKjr
Sapp/Henry
Peterson/Allen

Ignont, Reid and Austin Smith would see time I’m sure. But this group should be nasty next year. Sapp DKjr and Taylor will all be seniors/RS seniors
DKjr is gonna have to find something somewhere to be a major contributor. i think ignont will wind up playing himself in to more playing time.

"Maybe they move Trey back to Guard, since he is a Guard."

Can't say I like the idea of true freshman at the tackle position..JMO

Trey is a natural guard. It is where he plays better at. It was evident last year when he was moved to left tackle and we lost all of our push in the middle.

It is also evident this year that he is missed in the middle considering we can’t break anything unless we run a sweep off of his backside.

DKjr may not be here next year. He has obviously lost quite a bit of ability. He's not the same player he was even as a freshman. His injuries just may be too much to overcome at this level. I wouldn't be surprised if he either transferred down or quit altogether.

I think 7-5 would be a "reasonable minimal expectation". Anything above that is gravy, Imo.

...did you pay attn to this past off season?
Why Darrin Kirkland Jr. decided to stay with UT Vols

Also, so far this year he’s played in all 5 games, has 23 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 sack and 1 int return for a touchdown. I don’t see him leaving after this season at all. If he’s got a chance to make it to the pros it makes sense for him to stay and play his final 2 years of eligibility to prove he can stay healthy.

This group is lacking speed... other than Sapp we need speedsters. Kirkland is super slow and I shall not mention his declining tackling ability.

How long has it been since Vols have had this many highly rated or highly recruited OL prospects committed for an incoming class?

I know there has been a player here or there from the past several classes and most have not lived up to the hype (blaming lack of development/coaching).

How many of the 4 committed now, could start day one?

Trey Smith is probably the only one that is a sure starter next year. Maybe they move Trey back to Guard, since he is a Guard.

I can't remember how long it's been since Vols have had this many very solid prospects across the line.
Question is how many will they keep? I see us losing two.

I agree with what the sports folks said on Sunday- sign 7 OL prospects this year. Hit it heavy. How long has it been since we had even a decent OL? I can't remember. Even when we had Tiny and those guys, we couldn't push Vandy 1 yd in the 4th, and a bowl game was in the balance. Y'all have to remember that debacle. A good OL makes a good RB look like an AA. And we have a great stable of really good RB's. Then, get maybe 6 DL. You don't go anywhere w/o good lines. Just look at our past 10 or so years for proof.

if we get Wright, i'd like to know the last time we signed the #1 and #2 tackles and a top 15 G in the same class....plus 2 guys that will likely be significant contributors before it's all said and done.

i think we return everyone on the OL next year, and adding the guys we have coming in, getting Kennedy back...

i mean, i don't want to really go there right now because of how this line has performed the last two years and we've seen in the past that bringing back all 5+ OL on average to bad lines hasn't always meant much about how good they could be later on in their careers....but....if nothing else, we should have a legit 2 deep where you can have 2 sets of 5 that can play as a unit, instead of the musical chairs we've had to do the past few years. and experience does matter. how much? couldn't tell ya.

but i won't be expecting the OL to suck next year.

I hope your right cause I feel like we could use Kingston Harris and Eric Crosby back on the d line next year!

I wonder if Kennedy can fully recover for next season. Him and Trey could be a good start. I think a lot of those young pups are gonna be a lot better next season. If we could only get Richmond to take that next step in turning into a dependable starting Tackle!

The year that we landed Richmond late and had Jack Jones and Chance Hall with him had potential to be legendary. Two knee injuries, one neck injury, and 4 years of not meeting expectations blew that all to hell.

Double post but...

Our best case scenario next year on OL is:
Morris-Smith-Kennedy/Carvin-Wright/Carvin-Richmond

No one hit me, but Richmond it one of our five best. People need to give it a rest. He tries, but he has all the same problems the rest of the team has: too small, too slow, not strong enough.

Ouch. That’s just the cold hard truth of our roster currently, now ain’t it. Makes me sad.

Venzell Boulware was overlooked and under utilized. Boulware should’ve started!!
