Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I have the self discipline to not buy it or have it at the house.

But when the co-worker shows up with biscuits or donuts…….I am weak.

My family fails when we are busy as heck and don't plan ahead, which has decreased significantly over time. We do meal planning several days in advance, but we don't anticipate how tired we'll be and how hangry the kids will be after taekwondo and scouting. Thats where we occasionally trip up.

This is unfortunate:

Whitmer, a Democrat, is unable to issue a veto after the state Supreme Court determined the law was unconstitutional. The repeal will not take effect until 91 days after the Legislature adjourns at the end of the year.

Plenty of time for her to do damage. She is up for re-election next yr so that may deter her from doing something stupid

Study indicates COVID-19 causes brain damage, even in mild cases | khou.com
A new study of brain scans before and after COVID has found evidence of brain damage even in mild cases.

Those who recovered from COVID-19 had more brain atrophy or shrinkage in parts of the brain that control taste, smell, and memory.

Is it going to increase Alzheimer’s rates, dementia rates – even in people who are only mildly affected? This is something that could be a major public health crisis 20 years from now

Notice how there is no actual number of affected people in the article, just "more." Oh, and one single first-hand account by a 38 year old.

Nice research.

And they can go see a doctor in person or via a virtual visit. This is about as sketchy as medical marijuana approval sites.
The link included a section where you would be connected to a provider in your state. So there’s your virtual visit.

If you think that'll be a crisis, watch how many people die in the next 5 years from missed cancer screenings and preventative visits that were postponed in 2020.

In other news, the Cleveland Clinic has uncovered and reactivated drinking fountains at all locations. They're no longer considered a risk.

That was salvation after this morning's parking lot hike.

ON WHETHER KIDS 12 AND OLDER SHOULD WEAR MASKS IN SCHOOL

Danny Benjamin

We don’t have data from within North Carolina as to whether or not, in school in K-12, what happens when children are not masked. In other environments, however, if people are vaccinated, they are safe indoors. The vaccine brings the transmission down dramatically. For people who get infected, the rate of severe disease is reduced 90 to 95 percent. To give some context to this, a vaccinated child or adult … it’s safer for them indoors than it is for them to be around someone who has influenza. The vaccine is extraordinarily effective and makes life extraordinarily safe as it relates to COVID.”

This report doesn't prove that at all. It shows data and then says masks did this. But there's no control for unmasked transmission. They could say serving ham sandwiches in the cafeteria did this and it would be supported equally.

yes it appears the independent variable was distance; not mask vs no mask.

one of these days EL will read one of his links before he posts it
