I'm sincerely asking, not trying to be a dick, but isn't vitamin C ********?

Linus Pauling - Wikipedia

This dude was a renowned doctor who won a Nobel prize and then he started pushing vitamin C but it turned out his science there was quackery. It didn't matter because he won in the public's eye. Has research actually ever established that vitamin C supplementation does anything to boost immunity?

It's common knowledge that Vitamin C is one of the biggest immune boosters of all.

What percentage of masks are you seeing where you shop?
Today Wawa 90%, just two weeks ago was about 10%.
Today Costco about 75-80% masked about two weeks ago only 25%
Today Walmart about 30-40% masked about two weeks ago almost 0 masks.
This is Tampa Bay Florida by the way.

Definitely seeing an increase of people masking up whenever I go out now. Wal Mart in West Knox has masks available for customers before they enter the store.

That's an article from an unnamed author based on a talk with a registered dietician. This is what I mean when I say Pauling "won in the public eye." It's commonly accepted that this is accurate, but I do not think that it is accurate. Harvard says "marginally beneficial"

Vitamin C is often touted as a natural cold remedy. The nutrient is featured in supplements promising to boost the immune system. Nobel laureate Dr. Linus Pauling famously claimed that taking large doses of vitamin C helps thwart a cold. Is there something to these claims? "The data show that vitamin C is only marginally beneficial when it comes to the common cold," says Dr. Bruce Bistrian, chief of clinical nutrition at Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Would you say that Vitamin C is about as effective as a mask?

There are double blind studies which support efficacy (common cold) and contradict efficacy (as immunity booster). It may put in to question if all Vit C supplements are created equally more than anything else. If I were interested in Vit C as an immunity booster, I would increase intake of natural Vit C fruits and veggies and not count on a manufactured pill to deliver results. Good news is you cannot overdo Vit C like some other Vitamins because the excess is excreted.

I don't worry about who's wearing masks cause I don't go in three stores in a day?

Lol at some of you who will argue about anything under the sun just for the sake of arguing. Almost every immunity booster out there has Vitamin C. I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm simply sharing what has seemed to work well for my family. If you don't want to take Vitamin C, absolutely don't take it. If you think the negative side effects from taking Vitamin C outweigh the good then by all means, please refrain from taking Vitamin C.

It may be an old wife's tale, but I still swear by elderberry syrup. It also tastes delicious.

McMom does the elderberry stuff.

It never did anything for me, though. I am one of those types who never felt any difference at all with any vitamins until recently.

It makes sense Vitamin C alone wouldn't help that much if you're deficient in others. But that combined with Vitamin D, E, A, certain B vitamins, and Zinc would probably have a decent impact.

There is probably a reason old wives tales stick around for so many years. We have an older lady who cleans for us who has taught my wife lots of crasy sounding natural remedies that actually worked.

It seems like vitamin C would help with a cold if you are deficient. It's hard not to get enough vitamin C, even with a McDonald's diet (potatoes are the biggest source of vitamin C for Americans).

I don't know. There are a double blind studies available about Vit C, though.

I eat elderberry gummies all the time. 3 a day. I think they are Airborne? Or something like it. I believe in Vit C so maybe it's FOS, I don't know.
