our mortality data. . . .did not include cause of death

That's certainly interesting. Why exclude that little nugget when it's so easily attainable? They researched the political voting registration of subjects but not COD in a study claiming to make a statement about COD?

SCIENCE.

In another - I didn't actually read this - example

"The estimates of differences in excess death rates between Republican and Democratic voters (adjusted for age, time, and state) were small until the summer of 2021, when excess death rates among Republican voters began to increase compared with excess death rates among Democratic voters (Figure 2C). The analyses stratified by age showed that Republican voters had significantly higher excess death rates compared with Democratic voters for 2 of the 4 age groups in the study, the differences for the age group 25 to 64 years were not significant (Figure 3; eFigure 1 in Supplement 1). Democratic voters had significantly higher excess death rates compared with Republican voters for the age group 65 to 74 years. The analyses stratified by state showed that differences in excess death rates between Republican and Democratic voters were primarily seen in voters residing in Ohio, with smaller, and generally nonsignificant, differences in weekly excess death rates between Republican and Democratic voters in Florida (eFigure 2 and eFigure 3 in Supplement 1). In analyses that pooled data from March 2020 to December 2021, Republican voters in Florida did not have a statistically significantly higher excess death rate than Democratic voters in Florida (Figure 3). Additional sensitivity analyses supported our main conclusions (eTable 2 in Supplement 1)."

so in 2 of 4 age groups Republicans had higher excess death rates; in one of 4 Democrats had higher excess death rates Headline could read "Retirement Age Democrats have Higher Excess Death Rates than Republicans of the Same Age After Vax Available"

despite the Tweet headline, Republicans in Florida did NOT have higher excess death rates

as Kdoc points out; cause of death was not considered

also consider:

"Although the lack of individual-level vaccination status limited our ability to note further associations," (so they don't know if the people included in the study were vaxxed or no)

and

"However, one alternative explanation is that political party affiliation is a proxy for other risk factors (beyond age, which we adjusted for) for excess mortality during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as rates of underlying medical conditions, race and ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or health insurance coverage,26-29 and these risk factors may be associated with differences in excess mortality by political party, even though we only observed differences in excess mortality after vaccines were available to all adults. It is also possible that specific risk factors for excess mortality interact with the emergence of COVID-19 variants (eg, Delta) or changes in vaccine-associated protection over time to be more consequential at different stages of the pandemic."

This is akin to giving a lecture to kids ringing your doorbell and running off AFTER they've rung your doorbell and have vanished.

It is a good effort. But EL has already played the "prank". "Ha, Got 'em", EL exclaims as she trips in the dark while running away.

They really didn’t even adjust for age, only needing a 57% match. Also didn’t control for BMI, economic status, race, gender or other medical problem.

It’s actually a perfect example for medical literature statistics to show how to perform a faulty, biased study. Determine your conclusion first, then manipulate data to support the conclusion.

But the study’s purpose was political, not medical or public health. So people with no critical thinking skills will buy it hook, line and sinker

And then there’s this doozy in the Discussion….
“In addition to vaccines, nonpharmaceutical interven- tions, including facial masks … have been reported to contribute to reductions in transmission of COVID-19 or its severe outcomes… differences in support for these measures by political party affiliation emerged early in the pandemic”

LOL.

Like I said, "Science."

The peer review board should be replaced for publishing a trash piece like this.

Bro. Some of the material I’ve read in my PHD program is a joke. Peer reviewed articles that read like Facebook post. Just progressive activist that believe leftist talking points are a foundation for their research topics.

There was a 7th Edition Organizational Theory textbook that referenced Trump over 120 times! I rented the E-Book, noticed this trend, and searched the entire book for “Trump”. His name was used over 120 times in a college level textbook written about organizational theory!
I remember this quote, “The Biden-Harris ticket had something to offer every American”. WTF does that have to do with organizational theory?
The left has lost it dude.

MSNBC medical contributor tells Americans to start wearing masks again after uptick in COVID hospitalizations

NOPE

COVID-related emergency room visits are also on the rise, comprising 0.73% of visits as of July 21, compared to 0.49% a month prior.

We are all going to die.
