Great that they can build hospitals in days, if they cant produce more healthcare professionals overnight, not sure how much it will help.

Already told the wife if gets to a Contagion movie like scenario here in the states we are leaving and headed for a cabin my dad has in the Tennessee backwoods stocking up on supplies and food and everything else. Forget going to work like most people would still do and further spread the virus work and money won’t do you much good when your dead. Of course my wife thinks I’m overreacting to it but you have to have a plan if this thing does show up over here and on your doorstep before it’s too late.

Interesting anecdote. Returned some masks back to CVS yesterday. Of course they were happy to take them back and said they were out and had an order for 150 boxes. Said he would leave these at the register as not worth time putting back on shelf.
Said a Chinese gentleman recently purchased $700 worth of "eye care" to ship back, including eye wash solution and such.

I doubt they're being nice, I'm sure they're price gouging people.

Has anything else been reported about the group that held the simulation months ago about the "possibility" of a super virus spreading like this? I think I saw something about the research or something being funded by bill gates.

Before someone says anything....I'm not trying to spread "fake news" or anything. Just curious as I dont do the social media thing....just Volnation!

Looks like a photo op to me to look like they are doing something. Unless there are a bunch of road and sidewalk lickers in China.

I think you have hit is square on.
Our cases were identified immediately, quarantined, and given sophisticated medical treatment. So far, it seems that they have recovered. Thus, no spread.

It sounds like this was allowed to continue in Wuhan just long enough that the numbers began to outpace adequate medical treatment to cure/treat someone. Then you have too many people with it and not enough meds available. Then... snowballs out of control.
it doesn’t look like that scenario is going to happen here in the U.S., nor in any of the industrialized countries who are reporting a handful of cases.
if I was adjacent to China, though, I’d be updating my bug out supplies like a mofo.

Nonetheless, even if this were contained to just China predominantly, the economic impacts are going to be vast and they are going to start soon.

I would imagine inventories were stocked well for companies to get thru Chinese New Year, but shipments should start seeing major interruptions soon.

Netflix has a show called "explained" that is a docuseries about different subjects. Season 2 episode 7 was releases November 7, 2019 and is called "the next pandemic".

I just watched it and it basically explains how we should all be preparing for the next supervirus to wipe out a portion of the population. Bill gates has a part in it as do several doctors, some of who were actually quarantined in Toronto's hospital during SARS outbreak. They showed film and talked about Chinas wet markets being the probable cause of the next super virus.

Eerily similar to the events that have unfolded with this corona virus.

Worth a watch for sure.

I don’t think anyone knows exactly how long it lingers on surfaces yet. I’ve seen everything from just hours up to 9 days. I will say that seeing the lengths China is going to with trying to disinfect whole cities makes me lean towards it staying surface viable for more than a few hours.🥴

I can tell you what I heard from a meeting last week that the CDC is being cautious but not panicking at all. Level 1 trauma hospitals are preparing with the local Regional Health Coordinators but no one is overly worried at this point, at least here in Tennessee and the region.
