This is the latest list of candidates from Hubb's site:

TOS is reporting that these are the top names in the search (at a minimum, there may be others), and interviews will be held within the next few days:

* Jimbo Fisher (47), Head Coach of Florida State
* Larry Fedora (50), Head Coach of UNC, previous Head Coach of Southern Miss
* Al Golden (43), Head Coach of Miami, previous Head Coach of Temple
* Butch Davis (61), former Head Coach of UNC and Miami, and the Cleveland Browns (a rising name, endorsed by heavy hitters)
.
Other candidates that may be considered include Mike Gundy, Charlie Strong and Butch Jones.

I'd put Mike Gundy ahead of all of those name personally.

I've not heard anything connecting Malzahn with UT. If he's hired, he will probably be the 7-9 coach we've asked.

Well at least if any of those are hired I will save some money on tickets and donations to UT next year!

Does Hart know anyone outside of the ACC?? Seems like everyone in the mix has an ACC connection...bring a REAL coach to the SEC!

I dont see us getting Gundy - He is OKST alum and T Boone has deep pockets.

I know that an interview with Golden has been announced for Thursday but I will not believe that he is a real candiate until the meeting actually takes place. Golden doesnt exactly fit the criteria by Hart. I think it was Hubbs that did a good job of pointing out some scary things about Golden.

Totally agree with you on Davis. I dont see Davis as a real candidate.

Fedora - Is he proven? Does he have SEC experience?

Art Briles - Great offensive mind and has done well at 2 programs but his past teams defenses have been scored on at will. I think Dooley just proved how a great offense and weak defense works in the SEC = not good.

Fisher - has experience and is proven. Likely candidate.

2 names that bother people but I think they are worth considering...Strong and Patterson.

I think if Gruden says no, then you have to make Patterson say no.

Then Strong - who has experience in the SEC and he is proven. If there is one thing that Franklin, Saban, Spurrier, and Miles has proven in the SEC is that you MUST have a defense. Strong can bring that to the table and after our defensive woes, we need it.

Gruden, Patterson, Fisher, Strong looks pretty solid.

Also it is worth noting that Hart has a tendency to hire younger coaches who are on that inside track...

Innocent bystander's perspective here but I think my original list when this sh!t storm started included Fedora and Dabo Swinney. Caught some hell over that too. Would be anxious to see the reaction if that's how it goes down either way. Bet yall a buck I wouldn't be let down.
