You gotta go left field and take a risk if you dont get Gruden just to excite and interest the fan base! ROMAN! MALZAHN! Lets get crazy! Really what do we have to lose at this point?

Fedora is the best name out there who wants the job. The guy can flat out coach. He may not be a blig splash or he may not win the press conference, but he will make a splash in the wins column which is what is needed. The best coach....not the best face.

I dont see us getting Gundy - He is OKST alum and T Boone has deep pockets.

I know that an interview with Golden has been announced for Thursday but I will not believe that he is a real candiate until the meeting actually takes place. Golden doesnt exactly fit the criteria by Hart. I think it was Hubbs that did a good job of pointing out some scary things about Golden.

Totally agree with you on Davis. I dont see Davis as a real candidate.

Fedora - Is he proven? Does he have SEC experience?

Art Briles - Great offensive mind and has done well at 2 programs but his past teams defenses have been scored on at will. I think Dooley just proved how a great offense and weak defense works in the SEC = not good.

Fisher - has experience and is proven. Likely candidate.

2 names that bother people but I think they are worth considering...Strong and Patterson.

I think if Gruden says no, then you have to make Patterson say no.

Then Strong - who has experience in the SEC and he is proven. If there is one thing that Franklin, Saban, Spurrier, and Miles has proven in the SEC is that you MUST have a defense. Strong can bring that to the table and after our defensive woes, we need it.

Gruden, Patterson, Fisher, Strong looks pretty solid.

Fedora does have SEC experience. He was OC at Florida from 2002-04. I actually like his resume better than a lot of the other candidates. NEVER had a losing record as a HC. I realize it's not the "homrerun" hire the fans want, but I think he would be a very solid HC. UNC is a mess right now too, so I bet he would jump ship in a second for a high profile SEC job.

Agree with you on Davis and Briles.

I would also be happy with Fisher.

Patterson is not happening. With the other UT struggling and Brown on the proverbial hot seat, I think Patterson will wait. Plus, I think he's very happy at TCU.

I always thought Strong made the most sense all along with his strong SEC ties and recruiting ability in south Florida.

I think it is either Golden, Strong or Fedora and unfortuantely Golden would be my front-runner right now.

Gruden is NOT happening, so it is time to move on.

In the end, this is the guy I think gets the job, because I think this is who Hart has wanted all along.

Jimbo Fisher (47), Head Coach of Florida State

This is the latest list of candidates from Hubb's site:

TOS is reporting that these are the top names in the search (at a minimum, there may be others), and interviews will be held within the next few days:

* Jimbo Fisher (47), Head Coach of Florida State
* Larry Fedora (50), Head Coach of UNC, previous Head Coach of Southern Miss
* Al Golden (43), Head Coach of Miami, previous Head Coach of Temple
* Butch Davis (61), former Head Coach of UNC and Miami, and the Cleveland Browns (a rising name, endorsed by heavy hitters)
.
Other candidates that may be considered include Mike Gundy, Charlie Strong and Butch Jones.
Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I could learn to get behind Fedora or Davis. The others...well, I don't even want to think about it. This town's HOPE would disappear quicker than a jackrabbit on a date.

This is the best list I hav seen yet, however, I would put Fisher behind Strong. But not a bad list

Golden, Jones, or Briles are hired and then I'm done along with most of the fanbase. I could be convinced to get on board with Fisher and Fedora, and I'd be initially disappointed but could get on board with Strong if he could salvage this recruiting class.

Maybe not to this extent, but I agree. Golden wouldn't be a bad hire, but I'm not convinced he's what Tennessee needs right now. Butch Jones has potential but he's not doing anything that hasn't been done before at Cincinnati (then again, the last coach to leave Cincinnati isn't too bad, so...). Not on board at all with Art Briles.
