The family is trying to blame football for Lawrence's bad choices. We all have brain damage to an extent. This is not how we fix the problem

I have a feeling he never knew a day of it when he was living.

His family donated his brain for scientific study. Apparently, they believe he was another case of head trauma from playing football.

He was a problem in college. I'm sure it started well before that.

There was a LOT of bad things going on when Dr Tom ran Nebraska football and he has always gotten a pass. The media liked him so the narrative was different for him than it was for Johnson at Miami or the Bootleggers Boy at OU.

Now Phillips was still responsible for his actions as we all are.

I lacerated my finger a few months ago, same thing as getting my throat cut. :thud:

I don't know if LP had brain damage or not and apparently the family was asked to donate the brain and agreed. Maybe they're not looking to blame as much as find answers to help them understand better.

Marcus Dupree was on drugs and had a mental illness? That's news.

I always thought he played football because everyone wanted him to, he was great at it, but he never really loved playing football.

Interesting take.

Hard to argue with that. I think the process of being great (everything and everyone that come with it) just wore him out mentally. Its very possible that he didn't have the drive but knew it could be a way out for himself and his family. I think he was ready for football but couldn't deal with everything else.

Greatest running back, based on pure talent, that I ever saw. I lived in OK in he was there and the justified hype over this guy was unreal.

Switzer was a narcissistic sociopath hanging outing at Norman/OKC strip clubs hitting on the youngin's. He didn't want Marcus having as much attention as he did.

Marcus wasn't prepared for the big time...not his fault or his family's. He was just bigger than life when it came to CFB and didn't know how to handle it.

Associating with and taking advice from Rev. Kenny Fairley was sure a huge mistake. Things didn't have to turn out the way they did for him.
