Lowell "The Hammer" Stanley? I see those too so he might not be local
I was actually thinking of a guy name Brian Loncar, but it turns out he is the "Strong Arm". I would have sworn he used to go by "the hammer"

Now there is a guy, Jim "The Hammer" Adler who runs commercials.

It cracks me up. These guys are like pro wrestlers with their nicknames.

Also seeing a lot of commercials put out by law firms nationwide, usually very late at night, fishing for claims about asbestos or drug reactions. In the fine print, you will see that it is some firm doing it. But if you were to call, you'd find that they are in New York and they would refer it out to someone local to you. For a fee.

For example, in Florida, the traditional referral fee is 25%. Meaning that of the attorneys' fee generated by a case, 25% of that goes to the lawyer who called with the case. Theoretically, the referring lawyer is supposed to work on it in tandem with the one who actually handles it, but in practice that usually does not happen.

There are actually several attorneys here in Orlando who do nothing but advertise for cases, and then they screen them and farm them all out to attorneys who actually then run them. Some of the attorneys who appear to be the most experienced have either never tried a case or very few. but they advertise a ton, refer the cases out, and just sit back and collect the 25 % fees.

Regardless of arguments about advertising and free speech and how the victims of accidents have the right to sue, etc., the reality is that all the advertising has people convinced that lawyers on the whole are ambulance chasers.

That's a shame. I know some very talented plaintiff's lawyers who takes cases based on word of mouth. They may not make as much money, but they are honorable and work hard for their clients. The key is, they only take cases they think have merit.

I don't vote for, nor retain the legal services of, any person who has a nickname in quotation marks in their name.
