Leach Rejects Texas Tech's New Contract

Not a lawyer, but it seems those stipulations TT added were demeaning and unnecessary. Maybe they got tired of all the rumors regarding other schools looking to hire him away. Regardless, I wouldn't sign that crap either.

What's the big surprise? We all knew TT was broke.

I think it also speaks to the fact of how little actual interest other teams had in him.

That was pretty dumb on Tech's part but, I'm sure Leach will be just fine. I'll hate to see him out of the Big 12. It'll make that trip to Lubbock a little easier though I suppose.

Was his contract up this year?
I kinda remember hearing that.
I see that they disagreed over a new deal, but it doesn't say that the old deal had termed.

Regardless of the techies history in medicore bowl games, Mike Leach did more for that dust bowl cow college than any other head coach had in a long time. Ask Mack Brown, Dennis Franchonie, Mike Sherman, and Art Briles how they feel about playing in Lubbock.

We're not exactly talking "Iowa State" mediocrity here.

for tech and their history it is definetly chock full of excellence.
No, it isn't. He pretty much has done exactly what Spike Dykes was doing at the end of his tenure. I realize minor bowl bids mean something to Cal fans, they mean nothing here.

Remind me again the marquee wins he's accumulated while at Tech?

His Raiders knocked off the nation's #1 team on a last second play, in front of a national audience, with Gameday on campus. It was a marquee victory.

That said, that single moment doesn't define his career. He's an average coach who's never won anything of real significance, and probably never will.
