Leak #4 on CFN Heisman Watch

Definitely no Heisman for him in this offense. Weird thing is if he passes for as many yds as he did last yr he'll pass Weurffel for the all time leader at UF. Hard to believe.

Leak is a great talent waiting to explode under UM. Big year coming ahead for him, as much as I don't want to admit it.

Until they figure out how to run the football with some consistency, NOBODY is going to be the QB for that type of offense.

At this point leak has as good of a chance as anyone. For that matter so does E Ainge. Go 11-1 and play well either one of them would be in the hunt.

The last 2 programs Meyer got them turned around in their 2nd season and both programs (Utah and Bowling Green) had great seasons. Meyer is going to be under some pressue to show his offense will work at this level in the SEC. Last year was a dissappointment offensively for the gators.

Think Leak is good football player. Don't see him breaking out this year. He has potential but if last three years is any indication, he'll do ok but not great.

If you look at the numbers, Leak is one more OK year from being comparable to . . . . Casey Clausen. He'll finish with more yards, but about the same win total.

The kid hasn't shown any flashes of greatness that would make me consider him for any awards.

He's led the Gators to 13 losses in 3 years. I just don't see Heisman written on that.

I hope we do our part to move him well down that list in September.

A teams win/loss record has little to do with the Heisman. If you question that look back at Notre Dame's record when Paul Hornung beat out Johnny Majors for the Heisman. From my humble perspective the Heisman is nothing more than a PR Award. :bad:

GO VOLS, POUND THE ROCK AND RUN TO VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PR has a lot to do with it, but I think it would be virtually impossible in today's game for a player to win the Heisman the way Hornung did 50 years ago. I'm sure it's happened, but I can't think of a Heisman winner in the past 20+ years that played for a team with more than 2-3 losses.

Chris will have to have a bang up year to best Casey.

Right now, he's lost one game less in 3 years than Casey did in 4.

That's not to say Florida can't go 11-1, but I doubt it.

As I said, I trust our guys do their part to put an early stop to any award talk for the Leak.

A win/loss record has everything to do with the Heisman these days. The past two years, there hasn't been a Heisman candidate without an undefeated record. The year before that, Eli Manning got beat out by Jason White. I think it also is very important what team you play for. Teams like Michigan, ND, USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and a few others tend to receive more Heisman consideration for their players. A few years ago, Michigan's running back Chris Perry was a finalist. That guy was pretty average. I'm sure there were quite a few RB's better than that guy, but they probably didn't play for one of the marquee teams.

09-02 vs Southern Miss
09-09 vs Central Florida
09-16 at Tennessee
09-23 vs Kentucky
09-30 vs Alabama
10-07 vs LSU
10-14 at Auburn
10-28 vs Georgia
11-04 at Vanderbilt
11-11 vs South Carolina
11-18 vs Western Carolina
11-25 at Florida State

I can see 9 or 10 wins in there, if they play well. Not astoundingly well, but very good.

Thanks Milo . . . That was interesting to see. So it's happened 3 times in the past 27 years and it's been 19 years since somebody won the Heisman with 4 losses. I sure didn't remember Auburn losing 4 games in 1985. They were #1 in the country when we played them.
