I just wish they would allow them onsite to broadcast the game. I guess COVID showed them how much money they could save on T&E. Not sure if it will ever come back to consistently having onsite announcers. Burke is still the best but I like McDonald, Dellucci, and Peterson as well.
Indeed. You were spot on. Corporations have 2 years of favorable “comps” so T&E will never go back to where it was imho. As someone whose spent way too much time on planes, trains, and automobiles, I’m not going to miss it. Well, except for maybe some of the perks.Funny you bring this up. I stated on VN some time ago that Covid gave TV nets an great out to save money moving forward by continuing to not send announcers onsite to do games. I was mocked by others saying the difference in a quality broadcast would supersede cost. Don’t think anyone has given a “you were right“ reply just yet.

I like Big Ben also. Seems like he is just hanging out with the guys talking baseball. I enjoy his stories and knowledge of the game and it’s history.Ben McDonald is the best for me. Knows the game. Has done it at the highest level, but talks/acts like a regular dude. He's one of us IMO.
He's also always seems to be complimenting the kids even when they may be having an off day/bad at bat etc.

Because he did . When he’s not talking baseball he’s talking about killing something. The being “one of us” may be Ben’s greatest quality as a broadcaster. He sounds like a guy that just got off the lake fishing or out of the woods hunting to broadcast a baseball game while at the same time being totally prepared for the job.
