Leaving our guy Chris Burke out of the equation, what CBB analysts…

Ben McDonald is the best for me. Knows the game. Has done it at the highest level, but talks/acts like a regular dude. He's one of us IMO.

He's also always seems to be complimenting the kids even when they may be having an off day/bad at bat etc.

I just wish they would allow them onsite to broadcast the game. I guess COVID showed them how much money they could save on T&E. Not sure if it will ever come back to consistently having onsite announcers. Burke is still the best but I like McDonald, Dellucci, and Peterson as well.

I heard Ben McDonald and Chris Burke together a number of years back. Those two together were fantastic. Same with Kyle Peterson and Chris Burke. When Burke is with Peterson or McDonald, you have about the most enjoyable to listen to and knowledgeable crew there is on any baseball game at any level. Not a fan of the "Professional Announcer" types they match up with those guys.

Doesn’t appear baseball guys have the biases basketball people do. Some of the hoops guys are sickening.

Funny you bring this up. I stated on VN some time ago that Covid gave TV nets an great out to save money moving forward by continuing to not send announcers onsite to do games. I was mocked by others saying the difference in a quality broadcast would supersede cost. Don’t think anyone has given a “you were right“ reply just yet.

Indeed. You were spot on. Corporations have 2 years of favorable “comps” so T&E will never go back to where it was imho. As someone whose spent way too much time on planes, trains, and automobiles, I’m not going to miss it. Well, except for maybe some of the perks. 👍🍊😀👊

Yep, I like all of those guys. Dellucci is great in the studio.

Big Ben has been announcing MLB games for a number of years now, as part of team based announcers, like the Orioles, who he once played for. He is very good and very experienced.

I like Big Ben also. Seems like he is just hanging out with the guys talking baseball. I enjoy his stories and knowledge of the game and it’s history.

The being “one of us” may be Ben’s greatest quality as a broadcaster. He sounds like a guy that just got off the lake fishing or out of the woods hunting to broadcast a baseball game while at the same time being totally prepared for the job.

I still think Maddy Shipman did a phenomenal job on the call of a midweek game. She knows the game better than most of the dudes making the call

i missed her doing the baseball game but enjoy her other work. Not surprised she did a good job.

I loved his call of the C-Law dagger Saturday night; “turn out the lights and kiss the babies goodnight because this party is over”.

Because he did 🤣🤣. When he’s not talking baseball he’s talking about killing something.
