Len Elmore's comment about UT

I agree and think the thread itself would be better off in the Politics forum even though it's related to UT.
U are right! they did say something about UT, but did he interview the AD to see if they talked or offered to a black canidate or just shout their mouth off and not consider Coach K's body of work this year. I prefer the later! Go Vols

They finally get a black President and still whine every time a white coach gets hired. Unbelievable.

This is the word that has me wondering about a few things. First he is OURS whether we voted for him or not, I definitely did not. What Len said was untrue as well as bigoted, however to respond with such filth doesn't make things better.

Edited. Everybody can calm down now...

Tennessee already has one high-profile minority head coach in Bruce Pearl, so Elmore should have chosen a better example for his argument.

Len Elmore had every right to make that comment. These are high paying jobs that we are talking about. The University of Tenn. and it's influential alumni will realize something soon, sooner or later the African American athlete will start gravitating to programs such as Miami, KU, U of L, UVA, UH, and the other few coaches that make up the 11 D1 programs. Not saying that it has to be a big stink, but the resume of these athletes are impressive and the parents shoud push them towards programs who are breaking that glass ceiling.

Ol Rocky Top wouldn't be played quite during the game.

What a crock. The hiring process for coaches is about the guys who can get it done, not your social sensibilities.

Yeah, that Sly Croom had all kinds of awesome athletes beating down the doors to play for him.

Makes sense. If a school with the football history of ND were to ever be smart enough to hire a coach based just on the color of his skin, they would own college football.

It was Tee Martin that got you that National Championship.....Not Peyton Manning

why "hate" and "bash" the guy, Elmore is a decent guy. He has an opinion why not respect it and go on. I dont agree with it either but I dont kill the man over it.
Some of you guys are like bloody tampons when it comes to people uttering a critical word about the program.
I remember Todd Helton question CLK in an interview over the summer and he was crucified on here.

most people are like that when the allegations are false. Is he mad UT didn't hire a black coach or just because we didn't interview one (that he is aware of)? There were plenty of rumors that UT actually did reach out to a couple but all he knows is a white guy got the job and that's wrong.

Actually, I'm proud that UT had the first African American football player in the SEC (Lester McClain), when I was a student there and later, one of the first AA basketball coaches in Wade Houston. Yes, Charlie Strong deserved a head coaching job a long time ago. But Elmore was off base to single out UT. I thought Alabama should have hired Sly Croom instead if Mike Shula for example.
