Risking his final time out for a 7-10 yard advantage was reckless and nearly up there with calling a time out after a change of posession. But the 4th and short calls and the fake field goal were classic calls. I have to give him a lot of credit. If you have a chance to go for the win and the national championship is on the line if you lose, then you don't settle for a field goal and play for a tie.

By going for the win in stead of playing for the tie, he put himself in a group with Spurrier, Meyer and Tuberville as one of the conference's river boat gamblers.

Congrats, Les...

He was going to be a goat or a hero.

I'm glad he beat UF, but he isn't in Spurrier's league

he came out if it the hero this time
but it could have easily gone the other way
hester made him look like a genius

he showed his faith in hester. That's gotta give him something. It's not like he thought, well this probably isn't going to work, but I'm going for it. He must have really expected LSU to make the plays.

Easy... not saying he's in Spurrier's league in terms of overall coaching ability. Just said that in terms of rolling the dice, he's just as willing to do it as Spurrier.

Big difference...

I don't know if he had more faith in his offense, or LESS faith in his kicker. Missing 2 field goals is unacceptable for a guy playing for the #1 team in the nation.

That had something to do with the calls, also.

it was dumb, plain dumb. If it was along return it may be understandable but c'mon it was 7 yards.

Seven yards in that situation was big.

I applaud Miles, he's done a great job this year, so far.

It's funny how a guy goes from a meathead to brilliance when a few calls turn out right.

I wouldn't call his 4th down call a call that just turned out right. But I see what you're saying. I think all that talk was a little unwarrented.

I have not seen this discussed. If I missed it in another thread then I appologize. LSU wins despite their coach once again. Down by 3, 4th down, chip shot FG for the tie with 2:00 remaining at home...GO FOR IT? I like being aggressive as a coach. I like going for it on 4th and short when its called for. UT's 4th down decision was a great decision. But this decision was in much different circumstances. That might be the worst decision I have seen made by the coach of a major college football team. Even super-aggressive Spurrier would have known to kick the FG there.

He won didn't he?

Maybe Miles wasn't sure his D could stop Tebow in overtime.

Hard to criticize a winner

Each championship season, one or two decisions make the difference in winning the title and not winning.

This was one of those decisions, IMO.

I rather enjoyed the irony of it all. Last year Tebow came in and converted all of those short yardage situations. It is fun to see it happen to Florida this year. I love the fact that they put Meyer's playbook on the screen.

Honestly can you blame him for going for it....his kicker had already missed two and looked rattled, and when you have a rb like hester its hard to tell him no....gutsy call, i couldnt believe it when he did it.....but, they way their kicking game looked it was his best chance at a win.....if meyer had any sense at all he would have been calling timeouts....

Kickers 0 for 2, they are gettin 3,4,and 5 yards a pop on the ground, UF has yet to stop them on 4th down 4 previous times, UFs D line is tired and sucking wind from the long and time consuming drive......the man made the right call IMO.

Miles coached to win the game and I think you have to give the man credit for it.

Les's faith in this LSU team to win is unquestioned. He called out USC early because he firmly believes this LSU team will win the NC.
