No I'm with you. There are only two coordinators who I would actually take as quick or quicker than some of the 2nd/3rd tier coaches if it comes to that.

1) Chavis: Dude is Vol thru and thru. He's coached under Majors, Fulmer, and Myles. He was hardly the reason Fulmer got fired. Very well could have kept Fulmer's job for him for those last few years. And after Pelini left LSU, they had a couple of sub par seasons. One could argue he saved Myles job had he not hired the Chief. Crack on the 3rd and Chavis all you want, I would kill to have his defense back. I think with a good staff, he could get it done. And again, he is Tennessee thru and thru! The principles and foundation laid for this great program by The General were instilled in Chavis by Majors. That's something money can't buy.

2) Chuck Martin: Current OC/QB coach/recruiting coordinator for ND. Martin won 2 D-2 NCs as an assistant for Brian Kelly at Grand Valley State. After Kelly left, Martin won 2 more NCs as HC of Grand Valley State. His record was 76-7 at GVS, giving him a better D-2 win% than both Brian Kelly and Jim Tressell. He also set a record winning 40 straight games at GVS, smashing the record of 28 by Brian Kelly. When Kelly got the ND job he hired Martin as his OC. He has recruited well and adjusted to the game at the D-1 level well. Even though he is an OC, he actually has a defensive background. Just an overall well rounded football guy who WILL be a fantastic D-1 football coach sooner than later. And he's a young 44 years old.

Chavis is harder to make stuff up with... You can't say "Chavenight", that don't sound the same as Grudenight...

Sorry.. not buying that Gruden is out... Gruden has obligations and all that today did was through a little water on the fire.

Still got MNF... Still got TB payment coming.. needed to quiet it down.

Jon Gruden will be our next HC... too much smoke..

Thank you rich, i think you would have to look at him.. or at least interview him..

Just seems like Chavis coached defenses have a nastiness about them, always have. Surround him with a good staff, I think his entire team would play with that same nastiness.

Chavis would be ok for me. Give him a shot, he could be a solid head coach.

He should be given a call. The man would listen and could be had for at least half of what the money hungry ego maniac Gruden would be asking for.

As much as I like the idea of Chavis returning and hiring ole Phil back in some capacity, I doubt Hart goes that route. With John never being a HC, I think eliminates him per what Hart stated at his presser. Of course all that could change now that we missed on Gruden(IF he was even a target). People say the man does not like to recruit or just does not do it. I honestly find that hard to believe he has been a top DC for so long and noone has held him accountable for not recruiting. JMO

My top 5 (today):

Gundy
Petrino
Davis
Pelini
Bielema
