"Any play that is three or four yards is certainly a positive. Anything in excess of three or four yards would have to be based on the criteria or need of the first down."

- So 3 or 4 yards is a definite positive, yet anything over that may be.... gotta love it.

One would think with the size of the athletic budget of the University of LSU they could afford to buy Les a teleprompter.

(Before anyone jumps me for being ignorant, I'm referring to the football recruit a couple of years ago who held a press conference and said he was committing to 'the univ of lsu.) :)

Easily the most likable coach in the SEC. I've always liked Miles.

That is one of the craziest things I've ever heard/read. To me he comes off as a stupid and arrogant Yankee. To each his own though.

He is way too incoherent to be a prototypical Yankee. You can at least understand what those guys mean every time.

There's a rare point at which a basic dullness of wit + a deliberate effort to speak in vague and uninteresting, coachspeak-style cliches + the pressure and uncertainty of talking extemporaneously in front of cameras can become a sort of cryptic, koan-like poetry. Les Miles gets to that point every week.

Touche, although I think we're on the same page. He's effin stupid masquerading as intelligent.

Absolutely. He's standing up there trying to pump out the standard old boilerplate coachspeak crap, but he's too dumb to think on his feet well enough to be good at it. So he ends up saying way too many semi-interesting, half-baked things. Add that to the reputation he earned early on for aggressively going for everything imaginable, and you have a media that treats him like an idiot savant rather than just an idiot.

From Clay Travis article

Les Miles talking about Patrick Peterson - "When he's hydrated, he's the best in the country, arguably."
