We are near the end of the most disappointing Tennessee season in most of our lifetimes.

We all know that Derek Dooley will not be retained as coach next year, and for good reason. The team has show little to no progress over the course of the last three years. It is a given that he will be fired/resign, as early as this morning.

With this said, I would request that Vol fans resist the urge to bash, belittle, insult, and name call like elementary school children. He is a human being with a family, and they have had to endure all sorts of crap from the fans already, just because their father/husband has not succeeded in his job... sad.

He has not sat on his butt and done nothing. He has worked hard, and it has not yielded the results that he, nor the fans expected.

A coaching change will occur. Please act like respectable adults and let the man go in peace. :peace2:

Excellent post. I agree. Let's just move on. There's no reason to trash the man. It's not like he tried to fail.

I usually would agree with this...but...

He has let a proud program become, quite frankly, an embarrassment. Losing by Vanderbilt, a team that before tonight only beaten UT once in 28 years, HUMILIATE Tennessee. A ****ing beatdown.

At some point, you become so incompetent at your job where you deserve what you get. He's not a cashier at Target. He's getting paid almost two MILLION dollars to put a football team capable of winning games out on the football field. He hasn't won a conference game in one CALENDAR year.

Quite frankly, I look at it like this. He's stealing money from the university.

Good luck in your future jobs coach. You will get some sort of job, somewhere. I hope you succeed, and I truly mean that. Rarely do I wish failure on anybody.

But for the love of God, get out of Tennessee.

If he will quit like a man, I'll be glad to treat him with respect. If he's gonna wait to be fired so he gets $5MM, all those dollars cost at least a few jeers ... and rightfully so. Stand up and face the music.

I would have agreed with this 6 hours ago. Before he decided to lay down and take it up the butt from Vanderbilt instead of fighting to get my beloved Tennessee Vols to a bowl game and a winning season. As it is it is he gave up and I've lost every ounce of respect I had for him.

I used to laugh at this response from people referring to Fulmer but if this man had a single ounce of dignity he would resign and not take another dime from this football program that he has run into the ground.

We should drive him down to the GA state line, push him out of the van at the welcome center, and Dave Hart should fire him right there. I don't ever want Derek Dooley to set foot in the state of Tennessee again.

He is never going to coach again, at least meaningfully. And he doesn't deserve to. He's got a pantload of money in the bank and a law degree. Vaya con Dios.

I wish he would go in peace, but he hasn't. He's hung around and every week our team has gotten worse. Humiliating defeat after humiliating defeat. He hasn't resigned, he just keeps holding on, making our program more and more of a joke, so, in my mind, he certainly deserves to feel the brunt of our frustration.

So having the band play Mama I'm Coming Home and a 15 minute fireworks display as he is leaving campus for the last time would be inappropriate?

This is cruel, and should not be my thinking, but I kind of hope he coaches the UK game so he can hear the boos.

Remember the time he ditched Louisiana Tech in the same fashion Kiffin ditched us?

Kiffin bailed on us for his dream job and Dooley bailed on his school/fans for us to get the only upgrade he'd ever be offered.

He sold LaTech out.

Pin a rose on his nose for selling out LaTech for a better job. Let's praise him for being a savior as he made a million more per year than he currently made to do the following...

0-15 against ranked opponents.

0-13 while trailing at the half.

1-14 in his last 15 SEC games.

Losing to Kentucky for the first time in 25+ years.

Losing to Vanderbilt for the second time in 20+ years.

Dude sucks....

Remember the time we were up 7-6 and he benched our QB??? Awesome.

He's one lawyer I wouldn't hire if my pinky finger depended on it.

We're spending 5 million dollars on this firing anyway, I think we ought to get some fun out of it. I say we do it flash mob style. Let the fans know, via social media, when and where Hart is going to fire him, and we can line the streets from Hart's office back to his car, shouting "You're fired!" all the way. Maybe set up a booth selling Donald Trump masks to make back some of that buyout money.

Of course I realized these comments would come, but I was gonna say it anyways, because I believe it is the right thing to do.

Carry on.

Sorry, not the world we live in today... It's like working for a company and making $2 mil/year and quitting with no other job lined up. Can't get unemployment if you quit, but if you get fired, you can collect. Dooley would be an absolute idiot from a financial perspective to quit...
Remember this is a financial transaction - nothing less.

F Dooley.

F Dooley and his complete incompetence.
F Dooley's horrible coaching hires.
F Dooley's orange dog.
F Dooley's orange pants.
F Dooley for trashing a once proud program that never has any business losing to a garbage program like Candy.
F his dumbass playcalling and halftime "adjustments".

Just get the hell out and don't ever set foot back in that complex. He has lost complete control of this team and any former player, alumni or fan has every right to ridicule him for his total incompetence. He's a complete failure and an embarrassment to this program.

Frankly, this motherf----r just needs to go. I really don't care about being nice or respectful at this point.

We were embarrassed by Vandy.

It should have happened weeks ago but tonight was the icing on the cake.

He shouldn't be allowed to coach this team next week.

I get that. I truly do. Some of the comments about Bray make me shake my head.

However, it's just ridiculous what he's doing to his program.

The next coach will be inheriting a much better team than Dooley did. A loss like this to Vanderbilt is unacceptable, and Dooley's firing is now absolutely necessary. However, he has improved the talent level. While his tenure has been painful, he has contributed positively to the future of the program. I think he's a nice guy and wish him well. I expect to see him working for Saban next year.

Not like he's not getting PAID 5 million to suck. Take your apathy somewhere else.

You know what has contributed to the future of the program? Time. That's it. Time has gone by, and we've had a couple recruiting classes to get us back up to 85 scholarships, and the NCAA stuff is in the rearview mirror. That's it. Dooley has been a body in place while time went by. That's what he contributed.

This is not true.

The D is awful. Hunter/CP/Rogers/Rivera will all be gone. I bet James will leave.

Next year's goal? Bowl game. Realistically.
