The obsession with bad things in the past.

Fulmer, Kiffy, Dools, Botch, Pruitt, Henry T, Nico...all of it.

It stirs up hate, did intent, and depression without accomplishing anything positive.

I'm cautiously optimistic for the 2025 CFB season.

Go Big Orange!!!
You’re speaking to a fan base that lives in a predominantly depressed area of the country.

But I agree with you.

Define the "past" because Nico just happened and while we may have a great qb on the roster there is absolutely no proof to back it up. On top of the fact that our oline is still a giant question mark and our running game/wide receivers are largely unproven as well. I get your optimism but it's also pretty logical to have concerns.

Nothing makes people stop talking about something like a new thread telling them to stop talking about something.
I turned 18 in 1995, literally the dawn of the internet. Like some others here I have been message boarding since the beginning. People have always done this for some reason, i.e. create a post telling people not to talk about X. I don't think I've seen it work a single time. It just creates another long thread about the erstwhile undesired topic. People keep doing it though, the phenomenon is 30 years old and still going strong.

The past is defined as anything that has already occurred, no matter how recently.

I'm focused on the future. We can't change the past.. Hopefully we can change the future for the better.

Now I'm going to pick daisies, marvel at the butterflies and hummingbirds, and chase unicorns.

True. Another internet phenomenon that shows no signs of abating related to the OP is the tendency of some fans to dismiss any concerns and proclaim 'this is gonna be a great year' when there is absolutely no hard evidence to base that assumption.

We are going to have a freshman QB (Heup seems to have no urgency to land a transfer), a VERY average OL (cobbled together with whatever innate talent still remains from Pruitt's tenure and transfers) , 4 or 5 WRs total (and no apparent desire to add more), and WR and OL coaches that just seem darned happy to be here drawing checks.

And yes, my post is yet another that proves your hypothesis. You're welcome! ;)

Man I’m good. I don’t plan my Saturdays around a game anymore, I’d rather be sitting out on the lake or doing something with my family if I can catch it great if not, it’s not the end of the world. College football is going the way of NASCAR give it another 10 years Maybe even five, I think you’re gonna see half empty stadiums because nobody gives a crap. I’m not paying 1000+ dollars to go watch a game and gas and hotel and food when I can sit at home and watch it on a 75 inch TV , I used to get worked up about all of it, but this Nico stuff, man I could care less, hell I don’t even know who’s on the team at this point I guess we’ll find out in September. College football is going down the toilet in a hurry.

I agree with original post - but, it reminds of a colleague of mine. He's not internet savvy at all and doesn't do much social media either. I had to post something on our business FB page one time, and he told me "and put a post on there telling people 'not to be so negative'". And he was as serious as a heart attack. I laughed at him and he doubled down, saying "I'm serious". I said - "that's not how the internet works - at all". LOL. Needless to say, I didn't put a post telling people not to be so negative! :p:D

Some of the fans have some faith in CJH. UT did win 10 games and made the playoffs with a Freshman QB last year. The O-line coach has had o-lines that were Joe Moore award semi-finalists the last 2 years. You know the award for the countries best o-line, but he's just collecting a paycheck. There is nobody left from the Pruitt era, that stench is long gone. 2025's o-line looks like it will have 2 5 stars at OT, a 4 star at center and 2 very experienced IOL. CJH has never used more than 4 or 5 WRs, have you looked at the portal? There is no WRs in the portal that could start for UT and none likely beating out Jefferson, Staley, Smith or Jackson. So who is going to come to UT to be a 3rd stringer when they know CJH doesn't go that deep at WR? UT will probably start 2025 much like 2024, lean on defense and the run game until a QB gets up to speed. I have concerns like everybody else, but also believe other then QB, they are deeper across the board with talent then they have been in a long time.

Like the song says people love dirty laundry....and stretch their necks for a good car wreck. That's what has always sold newspapers and feeds the blogger trolls.

I don't disagree, but I am not sure that creating a post telling people not to talk about stuff has ever worked once in the history of message boarding.
I love the fact that this was literally the first response to the original post. Well done sir. With no football for months, this will remain a hot topic until the season starts. Then, it’ll be about how the two sides do during the season. Nico will persist, like a bad divorce.

Wow. Trigger warning!

The OL has been coasting on Pruitt talent and transfers for 4 years now, we have not developed a single HS OL into a starter, AFAIK. As for the WR room, you can play 4, but you do NOT want the entire freaking room to have only 4 WRs. Total. I didn't do it. Don't blame me.

Look, hopium is a powerful drug, and I certainly want us to do well this season. But I suspect the lack of urgency staffing wise that seems to be a trait of Heupel is going to bite us in the rear this year.

Time will tell. If I'm wrong, and we light up the skies with outstanding WRs, a powerful OL, and a phenom Freshman at QB, I will copy my own post with a plate of crow. But I don't think that's gonna happen.
