Well, we got E.J. , but missed on Davis, Coples, and McClain. McClain is the one we really needed. If we don't get Harris (unlikely) we wont break the top 30.

This is, without question, the worst signing day of the Fulmer era at Tennessee.

Who knows how we'll look back on this class 4 years from now...but, for today, it's a very disappointing class.

I'll admit, we didn't make much of a splash. Also, it's unacceptable to not meet our needs in a needs class.

what really distress me is that the rest of the SEC is killing. You could say all kinds of things about Phil's coaching ability, but you couldnt question his recruiting prowess, now, well.......2 subpar years out of four.....

With as long as it took to get the coaching staff together, I'm not sure what kind of class you could have expected.

We bounced back after one subpar recruiting season. I'm sure we'll do the same after this one.

how did we finish behind SoCar, Ole Miss, Ark, and just ahead of Miss State? Are you freakin' kidding me? How was this year so horrible? Cant wait to see Phil's spin.

Did you watch the tape? Arm tackler, not a head banger. Needs a lot of coaching for lb. May be a better fit at safety.

I think the uncertainty around Fulmer's future at Tennessee is finally hurting UT in its recruiting efforts.

I'm sure that Richt, Meyer, Miles, Davis, Saban, and Tommy Bowden made it clear to every recruit considering Tennessee that Phil Fulmer is unlikely to see them graduate from UT.

No one would be surprised to see Fulmer hang it up after a championship year, or step down after another disappointing season. There's a lot of heat on Fulmer from the fanbase, and a lot of uncertainty about his future in Knoxville.

As for the aforementioned coaches, their job security is fine and a recruit can feel confident that those head coaches will still be there 3 or 4 years from now.

I don't think it's the uncertainty surrounding Phil. I think it was that 1/2 our staff -- including pretty much all our best recruiters -- left this year. If you're a kid are you gonna feel more comfortable at a place where guys are stable, or a place where its "oh hey, i just got moved in my office a week ago, so uh, what's your name again? oh, yeah, uh, so you should totally still consider tennessee..I know I haven't seen you play, but i mean, I've got this paperwork from the other guy that left..." it makes recruiting a lot harder.

That's why the OL and DL deficiency is inexcusable. Caldwell, Brooks and Adkins (DL, DE and OL) didn't go anywhere. They also are not half bad recruiters... especially for what our needs were. Also, our off-field woes probably didn't help with the parental whisper in these guys ears. Probably gave a lot of late fuel to opposing coaches.

You are right though, I'm sure that a brand new Offensive staff of relative no-names (not saying that they're not going to be great coaches) does not help.

we'll be fine, I don't know why everyone is so up in arms about this. I bet no I know next year we will have a top 10 class. It isn't the greatest class and the day is not over so we might pick up a few more surprises. you never know

IMO what killed Fulmer is Saban. Saban landed a top 5 class of a bunch players Fulmer would have normally landed IMO. It's going to be a lot tougher recruiting with Saban in the league now.

In state recruiting SUCKS! It's getting harder and harder to recruit nationaly since so many other schools are going national, with "spread" offences and major upgrades in facilities. UT used to be the cream of the crop with stadium, weight room, locker room, practice area, ect.......Others are catching up, or passed UT. UT MUST get the best players in Tennessee each year.

Hardin - miami, fla
Jordan- Bama
Hightower-Bama
Spurlock-FSU
Mason-UK

UT's class could be great if the state players would stay home. WHY?????
