We are the home of Reggie White one of the 5 greatest defensive players in the history of football and we are the home of Peyton Manning one of the 5 greatest offensive players in the history of football let us never forget who the hell we are cause we are TENNESSEE we are ROCKY TOP FOREVER and tonight it's time to show who we are.

Despite the comments this thread will probably get, I am with ya bro. This is Tennessee! We are apart of college football history and lore.

Even if the fans have given little hope for the season, the only opinions that matter are those of the young men who are dawning the Orange tonight!

Agreed except you are being too modest about Reggie and Peyton.
Reggie is top 2 defensive player of all time (behind LT), and Peyton is the best football player to ever play the game (offense or defense).

Here we go again. And I am sure you also think Fuad Reveiz is also the greatest kicker ever as well. And I guess you might also take Todd Helton over Babe Ruth.

This top 100 is from 2008. A few football plays have happened since. A4.6 /40 guy is considered best ever should give any wr hope.

I have no opinion about Reveiz or Helton but stand by what I said about Reggie and Peyton. I don't think it's even debatable (perhaps it was before Peyton came back but not after what he did in Denver last year and with all the key individual records he will have when he is done).

I don't need to because I remember perfectly well what happened in that game. What Peyton (or anyone else) did over longer time frame (ie during the season) always overwhelms any one game. The fact that his o-line got overwhelmed by great seahawks d-line in that particular game does not change or diminish in any way what he has accomplished during the season or over his entire career.

No disrespect, but greatness in my opinion is how you perform when the pressure is on (Super Bowl). Peyton is a great player, but he tends to perform poorly on the biggest stages of his career, whether it be college or pros. I am just thankful they were able to beat the Bears in the Super Bowl. He was fortunate to make the Super Bowl that year and he did show up and became a champion.

In NFL pressure is on every week. To only look at SB's that
is a very small statistical sample and nothing conclusive can be drawn from it. Much better statistical measures to see how people perform under pressure are things like game winning drives which is a great way to measure performance under pressure - this is also a much bigger statistical sample and I believe Peyton is way up there in those.

Good points op. I like your examples and there is a lot of merit to what you are saying. For me personally, I value championships and the ability to make everyone around you better. That is why I have Montana as my GOAT QB. I value your opinion and I have no fault with you believing Peyton is the greatest. Thanks for the comments
