I want to see Us finish far ahead of USC...To see Ambles screw Kiffin would be priceless...I still think he wants to be a VOL

I was hopeful for future classes, but this year, never in a million years did I think we would keep a top ten class. Hat's off to Dooley, Chaney, and Thompson!

With the timing of Benedict Arnold's departure, I fully anticipated that, in terms of this recruiting class, he would leave a glowing thermonuclear wasteland in his wake. Dooley and his staff have done an absolutely superb job under the circumstances. The only substantive defections were defensive players who were specifically allured by the prospect of playing for Monte. I believe, however, that the damage would have been more substantial if we did not have such a strong core of early enrollees. As it is, we are now receiving interest from players (e.g. James Stone) who simply did not like or trust the previous coaching staff. The proverbial proof will be in Wednesday's pudding, but it certainly looks like this recruiting class will end with a resounding bang rather than the fizzle that so many people foresaw two weeks ago.

I will be honest...

I expect a 15-20th ranked class, having a lot to do with the 9 early enrollees X left us with. I assumed it was too late for a no-named, never-been-a-good-school football coach to get us back into the top ten. I also expected a few commits from LA Tech level talent (which I still believe Martaze Jackson is, but that is to be determined).

Overall, it seems I was wrong...with this year. I'm not content yet to pass judgment. Smite X if you like, but our class would not be where it is now without what he started. I want to see Dooley in action on his own for a year first. That being said, he did a fantastic job with what little time and resources he had left.

But, but, Kiffin said that kids didn't want to play for the jersey, they wanted to play for his coaching staff!

I concur with ALL of you. I wanted to write something myself, but you guys have pretty much said everything I wanted to say. Me being new to the site, I didn't want to just regurgitate everything you guys have already said. I am a new member, but have been reading your responses for several months. I thank ALL for the info that has been provided.

I think CDD will do us proud. What he's done in such a short time is nothing short of amazing. If he and the staff can coach em' up, we are in for one h3ll of a ride.

GBO!!!!!

When Dooley was first hired is there anyone one here that can honestly say you thought we would finish with a top ten class? What Dooley, Thompson, and Chaney have done really is pretty remarkable.

Top ten? Probably not, but after his press conference, I felt relieved and excited that we had someone that was pretty dam smart and could relate to our history and traditions.

I actually posted at the time about how would we feel if Dooley finished with a top 10 class....after all the defending of X's mouth, recruiting violations, etc....we can still finish with a class better than what we would have had if X stayed. If we end up with Ambles, Rogers, Stone....a few others. I don't think Rogers, Hunter, or Stone would have come with x still here.

Anyway, I was hopeful, but am really surprised at what they have done. Also feel like a chump for believing x was really helping recruiting by running his pie-hole.

I'm all for feel good stories, too. However, you cannot diminish what Kiffin had going in terms of recruiting. We had Ambles locked up, and had a shot at getting Prater. Look at what we lost after he tucked his tail and ran off to USC. I don't think we could have beaten UF for the #1 class, but I think we could have been #2.

What DD has done has been impressive. LT and JC are huge pieces of this puzzle. Remember, they were part of Kiffin's staff. Our staff was incredible, the best in the SEC.

Here's to CDD finishing strong, Layla catching syphillis, and CLK being eaten by a great white shark.

I have thought all along that the University recruits kids better than any coach could do. For all his short comings PF knew this and had a hand in building some of the finest facilities in the NCAA. The last turd exploited what UT had to offer and rightfully so. We now need stability and some wins over our rivals to go over the top in this recruiting business. PF slipped in this and we will never know if the turd would have accomplished this.

Unless some amazing things happen at OL in the next few days, he won't be able to meet needs as well as Kiffin was likely (let's say > 90% chance) going to. That was what was amazing about our recruiting class before, IMO, it looked like we were well on our way to a possible top 5 finish AND filling our needs. The fact that the OL recruiting suffered isn't DD's fault - the timing just sucked and we didn't have an OL coach - now it looks like we have a good one, but it's late in the game.

One thing we'll have to watch out for is being jumped by other classes. We have a lot of room, but Georgia and especially USC seem to be in a position to jump us. USC will almost certainly jump us based on numbers. Georgia will if they finish strong, but that would be very tough for them to do if we get Rogers.

USC can also only take 3 more recruits. They're up against the 85 scholly limit and can only take 17.

I wasn't claiming disaster, but I wasn't predicting great success either. I stated elsewhere that the hiring of CDD was our 3rd coaching culture in 15 months, and that it is a 2 year process for any staff to begin showing measureable results on the field.

CDD, CLT, and CLC are men, I will say that.

Big Orange Bo and myself have been behind Dooley this whole time, knowing this class would finish in the Top 10.... wait, that was just me.

I was WAY wrong about X, and I was wrong about DD. I believed in X, and doubted DD. I have since repented.
