Let's Face this Against Alabama Everyone-

Also, remember this: Alabama's players put their pants on one leg at a time. Tennessee HAS beaten Alabama when Alabama had a more-talented team. So, lets let the teams play each other before we chisel an "L" in Tennessee's column!

I meant one threat as in if Neal isn't healthy we are in trouble. All these other guys can't even see the field when both Lane and Neal are banged up. Neal goes down, we are down to Lane who isn't even 100%. You think our passing game is average now, without Neal we won't be passing the ball because Worley won't have time to get it off. You guys are about to see what happens when Worley is forced to win us games. Worley will have to play out of his mind Saturday for this game to be close late on. Bama's number one goal will be to stop Neal and our run game, and they have shown me no reason to doubt their ability to do just that.

Lane looked 100% to me against USCjr. No doubt running against Bama is going to be the toughest task yet, but I think our oline is up to the challenge. It really all depends on the wr's being able to win some one on ones and Worley being able to quickly make his reads ( something he struggles with ) and get them the ball. This will be by far the best D we've seen. All that being said, I think we may surprise some folks and at least keep this game relatively close. I sure hope for a win but I'm not expecting one.

Worley is our only hope of winning as Bama will stop our run game. I fully expect to find us in a lot of 3 and 5/6 situations because our run game will only gain two or three yards per play.

Think just a little before posting like this. So Neal has 30+ more carries and leads Yeldon by 30+ yards. Did you happen to also see how many yards both Drake and Henry have? They have combined for 600 yards. So, let's see if Yeldon rushed the ball for 70% of the carries as Neal does here, he'd have about 400+ more yards at this point.

Sorry but I have to weigh in on this. So many fans, like you, apparently base their opinions on perceptions or memories of years past. Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy do indeed both start in the NFL. Three bammer OL from last year do also. This is a different year.

Tennessee is running the ball only slightly worse than bammer, but against a much, much, MUCH, MUCH tougher schedule. That is all you need to know.

We are indeed even, if not a bit better, when you factor in us playing UF (no 3 run D in country), Oregon, Georgia, SC, etc, vs the likes of Kentucky, Arkansas, and even Texas A &M.

We will be able to run the ball to some extent against Bama. I believe aside from A&M we are playing the best ball right now of any team that Bama has played so far.
We have also played against elite talent this year which equals practice. It has made us better. We are not going to see anything Saturday skill wise we haven't already seen this year. Our early schedule should actually play in our favor when Saturday rolls around.
Bama's RBs aren't any better than Davis. Bamas receivers aren't any better than Oregons, nor is Bamas team speed.
Bamas defense isn't any bigger, faster or more physical than Florida or Oregon. We just faced one of the best front 4 defensive lines last week.
We will definitely find out how far we've come since the Oregon game. I'm not calling for a win, but I think we keep this game close late in the game.

Okay I got inspired to do some quick research.

By the numbers, bammer runs for 211 yards per game.

BUT...they have faced defenses giving up an average of 172 yards per game. So they are + 39 in yards gained rushing vs opposing rush Ds.

Tennessee runs for 201 yards per game. Our opponents on average give up 140 yards per game. So we exceed what opposing rush Ds allow by 61 yards per game, which is a pretty good bit better than what bammer does.

The rush Ds they have faced are ranked an average of 73rd while those we have faced have an average rank of 44th...which again is a pretty big difference.

They only average 10 yards per game vs. MUCH WORSE opposition..so I am going to say we actually have a slight LEAD in running the ball.

The numbers don't lie.

Actually our no. 3 back is averaging more yards per carry than either Lane or Neal. Yes, I know he did this in garbage time, but I actually think we will be okay. Heck, we ran the ball pretty well against Uga even after Lane went out.

The oline and the run gm has to show up big time for us saturday. We can not afford to leave our D On the field for long periods of time. Lets just all hope that Worley plays a good gm saturday he is the key to this team. As Worley goes we go. GO VOLS!

Break even at running back, not even close. Neal is way better and Neal could be better, but really we break even? Put down the orange tinted glasses

My question is how will everyone feel if they cover the spread with all this we r has good kool aid.

Who to blame the coaches no they r dools recruits..

Its funny we need better recruits because these r fools but oh wait we r good enough to win or at a min get a moral victory.

Its going to painful watching us lose to bama again just like fla..IMO we may cover but who cares its a lost

They are bigger, faster, stronger, more talented, and are at home. They are the two time National Champions. They have the advantage at the most important position-QB. Defensively, they are flat out nasty. We have the advantage on the offensive line, and we break even at running back, and the kicking game. Alabama will place this game square on the shoulders of Worley. They will press our receivers in man to man coverage, and blitz from every angle. They will attempt to limit Neal and Lane. The key for us is to be able to run the football well and for Worley to take shots in the passing game that Alabama gives us. Alabama will show a cover 2 look and at the snap" melt back" and bring pressure. Worley will have to read and throw the underneath flat-curl's and hook curls in the middle. Alabama will give us opportunities over the top in press coverage. We must take some shots and have time to throw it. The key for us defensively is to stop McCarron and the passing game. I see us bringing pressure with our front four only and throwing a lot of different looks with our linebackers and secondary. Momentum is important. This should be a great one. Good luck.

I'm sorry, but we do not break even at RB. Theirs are definitely superior.

Please remove "alum" from your name. There is simply no way in hell you graduated from Tennessee. Remove "vol" also. Just be "92".

Who's rb is better is a non issue. Is our running game good enough to have success against their defense, and vice versa, is whats important. I think we can hold our own on both fronts.

Our kicking game is even?

I dont know much about bama's kickers but I do know I wouldn't trade Palardy for ANYBODY.

Watching this game will not be nearly as painful as reading this post! For a second there I thought I needed glasses! I do love your attitude however. That will really get you somewhere in life!

I thought the same thing against UGA and USCjr , I was wrong. Bama's D isn't a brick wall, yes they are good but we just so happen to be pretty good up front too. No doubt that Worley needs to play a good game to make it easier.

for us to win - all 3 things must happen- Bama must be looking ahead, WE must play a game without turnovers. Bama must turnover the ball 5-6 times. While this is possible, it is what, one chance in 20? But - it still could happen. I am hoping that we get thru the game w/o key injuries, so we might be able to be Mo and Aub. and should beat Ky and Vandy.

Neal would have to walk on at Alabama. I love the guy, but the truth is the truth.

If Bama had the Vols offensive line, Yeldon would probably be leading the nation in rushing.
