Why would we be in a hurry up? With all those problems?

We need to slow games down and get as much out of a senior laden line as we can. Play action off that..... Good coaches adapt to what they have. Makes no sense what we are doing. The play calling was reckless as well. You can't throw the ball on 3rd and long while you are already in field goal range with a struggling QB.... Take the points.... UF offense was strugling.....

Just a piss poor job with the X's and O's so far IMO....

Because we are building toward the future (which in my opinion is just more reason to put furg in). He is implementing this system now so that his kids that he has next year has one year experience in it and he's not starting fresh just because he has 1 year of recruiting his kids in. We take our lumps now but implementing his system in year 1 is important.

Strengths?
Please list.
Butch is in a pickle. Has a mismatched offense without a qb to throw the ball.
On defense, he lacks speed and has a secondary that's young, inexperienced and learning a new system.
What strengths does he have to play to?

Post of the year nominee

Agree. Highlight of the game was from a freshman walk on...pick 6.

I am satisfied with the progress thus far by this team. We were in this game in the 4th quarter. Last year, people were leaving Neyland Stadium at the end of the 3rd quarter because we just quit playing to win. This team fought till the end and I'm very optimistic.

Go Vols!

In this game in the 4th quarter? Are you serious clark?

Take advantage of the O-Line that every media member says is the best in the country and pound the ball and run play action off that. I'm not a big McCarron fan. I don't think he's a great QB. I think what makes him great is his surrounding cast. Last year he had an NFL O-Line, Great RB's and when he ran play action off those linemen and RB's, his WR's and TE's were WIDE OPEN!

I hate to break it to you but our O line is highly regarded and way overated. I was watching the Aub vs LSU game and LSU has a real SEC line. They were blowing holes that were 5 ft wide. Our runningbacks are marginal and the line is good at pass pro but average at downhill run blocking.

Ignoring the garbage gameplans from the past two weeks is how one gets to the point of supporting guys like Dooley idiotically or blindly. Staff might be able to coach, but those were some idiotic plans, given what we know of the team.

Butch needs to keep doing what he's doing. Everywhere he's been his teams had growing pains their first season. We will see improvement next year people need to quit expecting fast food results.

Don't believe any media member's opinion. We have a pass blocking line. Worley would miss the pass, or it would be dropped.

Butch's plan does not work with our players, simple as that. Now, as HC, what should Butch do in this situation? So far he seems intent on pounding a square peg into a round hole.

Improvise, adapt, and overcome

Learn it, live it, love it

When your quarterbacks fumble, let balls slip out of their hands for interceptions and cosistently throw the ball to the other team I am pretty sure that will destroy any gameplan going in.

Yeah Butch should toss his game plan for the obvious success of the fans game plan. After all the fans are proven winners.

Gruuden, I'll say it differently. We lost that game because we have a coach who doesn't yet know how to win in the SEC. CBJ got out-coached by Muschamp. When Driskle went down, Muschamp went conservative, protected his QB, and played D. What did Butch do with his rookie? Asked him to go out there and beat the best D in the country, in one if the toughest places in the country to play, with his arm.We ran trick plays instead of just running it. Butch Jones is going to learn quick that you better play to your team's strengths when you don't have as much talent or he's not going to last long.

What trick play did we run? I missed most of the first quarter.

then start looking harder. There's a very good reason fl ran 60 plus plays. If we would quit slinging the ball all over the field and pound with our o-line instead, we might not win these games, but we keep the score closer and at least give our d a chance to make a play late in the game b/c they arent so gassed. I'll hand it to cbj though, he is running his system, regardless of the personnel, damned be the results. I think the sign of a great coach is one that can adapt his preferred style of playing to give his team a chance to win. Apparently, cbj must think he has the time to recruit a full roster of his style players so he's all in in his style of play.

amen bro!
