Do you honestly think the NCAA, the most gutless and toothless administrative body in all of organized sports, would come down on the program for this? Not to mention all of the negative press they would get because of it? I think this is a great idea and highly doubt that the NCAA would make a big deal out of it. I mean, if the NCAA doesn't care whether players take their own tests or pass their classes or receive money, which there is plenty of evidence to support, I don't think this is a cause for concern.
well if it's going just to his parents then throw in a house/car/etc. I kinda see what you mean but it just won't fly since that could be abused to no end
His life and future are out of our control.
Well this was such a great idea you had. Think all of us would have helped. God knows we all would want our family around. Guess we cant go thru with it though...What a shame/I was thinking today and thought 'wow what if I had almost just died and had my family half a world away?'
Big E really was clinically dead for a few moments and needs his loved ones here for him. I don't know if it against NCAA rules, but if I were CBP I would have them all flown out here myself considering the circumstances. Although, I'm sure if he could he would. So why dont we all start some kind of fund, even if it's a few bucks each, and pitch in to have his closest family flown out to Knoxville to be with him during this scary time. I know this sounds crazy, but I really feel for him, as I'm sure we all do. So lets do something for him, from us, to show that we care. Any ideas on how to get this started would be appreciated. Thanks to all and god bless.:good!:
Go look up the 'AA's definition of "a representative of an institution's athletic interests." You, as well as pretty much anyone else who posts here, will fall within their broadly drawn definition. There's plenty of compliance material at utsports.com. If you bother to read it, you'll see your idea runs afoul of pretty much every 'AA reg they cite.As much as ur opinion seems to be valued by yourself and many others I'm not gonna take you at your word. Please elaborate with references directly from the NCAA. If this is done than I will gladly admit being wrong.

I think it is ridiculous that the NCAA seems unable or unwilling to discern the difference between this situation and a booster giving a player an Escalade. As far as the church idea, if anyone in the congregation is a UT grad or has even so much as purchased a baketball ticket at some point, the 'AA would likely claim it is booster activity.Well like I said If I'm wrong then I'm wrong. But hat, can you say that you agree with this. Or see for any reason this should jeopardize the eligibility of a college athlete. Another question..you said I would fall under the representative of an institution's athletic interests. What if I were not a fan and just saw this moving story on the news about Emanuel and his family and I wanted to help. For example what if a local church did that? How could you bring them to fall under that definition?
