If it is to focus on running for president, I wish she would reconsider. While I will not vote for Obama, I will never vote for her. She is too polarizing of a figure- the alternate universe Hillary Clinton, if you will.

If the republicans want a chance, they have to go with Huckabee or Romney.

I think she'd be better served running for the Senate seat currently held by Lisa Murkowski, although that could turn into a real cat fight.

Another option would be to run for Congress. Palin desperately needs some experience dealing with international affairs.

Thoughts?

This might not be a very wise decision. As IP said, if her focus is to run for president in 2012, then this isn't the best decision. If she's just tired of being in the national spotlight, that's perfectly fine. I just hope she doesn't think that she's got a snowball's chance in hell to be in the White House on January 20, 2013.

My dad lives in Alaska, and really likes Palin. He'll be a bit disappointed if she is hanging it up completely.

granted, lack of international experience, zero experience in the private sector, and zero executive experience didn't stop the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. from bamboozling 52.9% of voters.

Exactly. Partly why I couldn't vote for her is because I wouldn't want to be hypocritical about my biggest problems I had with the current POTUS (now I have fresh objections, of course.)

There is something in the woodpile on this deal.

I wonder if she was given an either/or ultimatum by someone who has something on her?

Just goes to show you how pathetically pitiful the gop is viewed by the public at this time.
I notice there is a support sarah pac ad at the top of the page on vn I guess she is not leaving politics if she has a pac going.

like her or not, she'll probably just be a flash in the pan by '12... 3 years is a lifetime politically..

I predict a radio talk show in her future... or a spot on Fox..

I would think so too, but yet it is one of the few things that makes sense as to why she would suddenly step down.

This would be a disastrous move to make if she wanted to run for president. I like the news anchor position or talk show host mentioned earlier.

Maybe Senator? Is Ted Stephens back in?

This obviously isn't a move to allow her to start campaigning for president...too early for that. But, it's possible that she is eying something like senate/house. Maybe the cnn article is accurate in saying that the timing was right because of the conflict that was arising with her book deal tour, tv appearances, etc ... and that some citizens were getting worked up. Maybe she is cutting her losses....

...it really seems like a weird move. How does this help her?

Dream on! Palin, Mutt, and Dingleberry. There won't be a Repub outside of the Old Confederacy and Utah if this trio continues to head the Repubs.:clapping:

Obama, Pelosi and Reid aren't exactly Patton, Eisenhower, and MacArthur.

They're more like Larry, Curly and Moe.

Doubting Obama's intelligence is the sure path to a Dem landslide in 2012. Losing by nine and one half million votes wasn't enough? But don't let that deter you from the Obama is dumb fantasy.

Don't be silly. He won off of GWBs lack of intelligence. It had nothing to with his own intelligence, experience or qualifications. Had it been that way, the idiot would never have won the dem primary. Being the anti-Bush was his only winning trait.

Yea that was it. Because we know the intelligence of our voters is off the charts.
