Liberals Rejoice!

Doubting Obama's intelligence is the sure path to a Dem landslide in 2012. Losing by nine and one half million votes wasn't enough? But don't let that deter you from the Obama is dumb fantasy.
I've been hearing he's smart enough to get a foreign exchange scholarship at Occidental College. Does that have any bearing on why we haven't seen his birth certificate?

The republicans can win if they can find a socially liberal and (actual) fiscally conservative candidate. None of Palin, Huckabee, and Romney fit that build completely.

A toned down version of Ron Paul would be perfect.

He does pretty darn well in most informal straw polls, even winning a lot of them, but I guess the mainstream voters think he's a little out there.

But yea, a toned down Ron Paul would be perfect for the GOP.

Yeah, most of the "average" voters I talked to this past election would usually tell me that Ron Paul was "too out there" and almost always in those exact words.

You mean a libertarian?

She should take Conan O'Brien's place,...he sucks. She couldn't do much worse.

What are the theories on why she is doing this? Seems awfully abrupt.

ever heard the man speak without the use of the TOTUS? the left constantly derided Bush for his presentation skills but Obama is like a freshman speech student.

Obama is plenty smart, but he has the same weakness as Bush, he is a pawn of his political advisers. David Axlerod is the one calling the shots.

What did you all think of her presser? (here are last few minutes)

YouTube - Sarah Palin Announces Resignation as Governor, Part 2

I think that she did a good job of describing why she is stepping down..and sold it fairly well. Who knows if it is true...but she did a good job with it. The delivery wasn't great...she jumped around a lot...but the content that was there was good.

With that said, she annoys me so much...I could hardly stand to listen to it. I try to be fair - but she presses so many buttons that it is extremely difficult. I find her annoying, condescending (in that she talks to me like I'm 6 so that apparently I'll believe everything she says, usually coupled with a wink), and not very thoughtful.

I used to think that she was just dumb...but I don't think that's it anymore...she just doesn't appear to like to be very contemplative or mull over things. It's not that she doesn't come up with good ideas sometimes - but I think that she hates thinking and loves doing. She doesn't even appear to be willing to take time behind the scenes to learn the things that she doesn't know well (such as during the campaign). It's like she's not willing to slow down long enough to learn very much.

It's just very contrary to my personality, and a trait that I respect in some people and am turned off by in others. It's more often than not a trait that I am turned off by, but some people do it so well and it is so contrary to my way of doing things that I tend to respect it a lot. However, I am very turned off by it with her, and I haven't been able to develop any respect for her.

The converse is those who are so paralyzed by analysis/thought that they can't act....another frustrating personality.

I personally think she's just tired of the bull crap associated with politics. It's not for the presidential run, because her term as governor, as far as I understand, ended a full year before the 2012 elections. I honestly think she was tired of herself, her kids, and everything she stands for constantly being attacked and scrutinized (part of the territory, especially if you aren't lock and step with the media establishment). I really think she is just throwing in the towel. You have to be an extreme narcissist with either thick skin or completely out of step with reality (or both) to be in office, thus why for the most part we are screwed as a country.

Agree or Disagree with her, her story is what I think should be becoming the norm across the country. Everyday people tired of the crap and running to "throw the bums out." The Elites from both parties saw that, and she scared the crap out of them. I know people cite her lack of experience but we just saw Stewart Friggin Smalley win his way into the senate...

This is a great post. Bush had the same trait, the way he spoke saying patently obvious things as though he was revealing some great intellectual thought. Very annoying.

I have yet to see a single politician that didn't state the obvious over and over and over, Bush was no different than any other political figure including the schmuck now holding the highest office in the free world.
