My wife is a history teach at the high school level, we are both history dorks and like to vacation in towns with lots of history instead of a beachy places.

then you could probably spend a year where I live. We try to go see a new place every month but I've still just scratched the surface

Go to Myrtle.....2 hrs north from Chucktown, 2 hours south from Wilmington (Fort Fisher is very informative) and enough golf in the middle to satisfy anyone.
been there, but didn't like near as much as Hilton Head for the golf. Did enjoy King's North in North Myrtle. Haven't been back since many of the new courses have come along.

You're not kidding. Virginia is brimming with history. I especially like Petersburg and Fredericksburg.

agreed. Lived in Richmond for several years and I was within 90 minutes of everything I could want: beach, mountains, history, golf, DC.....
