I know we have some solid front 2 (Beasly, Pili) and promising guys (Herring & Carter) but is anyone else worried about depth at that position ? Carter is a freshman, Herring has not played much. We have two other true freshman as depth. How is the Caleb Williams guy who transferred from Liberty ? Can he gives us some snaps ? With long season and daunting SEC schedule, I feel like we will need more bodies.

Your thoughts ??

No. This will be the best our linebacker corp has been in many years.

Tennessee Linebackers are a MILLION miles away from just a few years ago when Colton Jumper (**) STARTED for the Vols.

You know it’s interesting. People have been saying we are deep there, so I took their word for it. In fact, I just read an article talking about what a deep group we have in the same “breath” that they referred to sophomores and freshman as Beasley and Pili’s backups. The only reason I can see that being depth is if the underclassmen are T’o’o’to’o sp? Type talent among upperclassmen.

I don’t think you quite understand how freaking good arion Carter is. And Elijah herring is a stud as well. But Carter could seriously be a freshman all American

In fact with Garland out, I counted 3 upperclassmen out of 11 guys. Beasley, Pili and Albright. I consider experience a part of depth. I just don’t think we are as deep as everyone says we are.

Garland was a walk on. Would you rather have older but not talented players out there over young studs? This linebacker group is five times more talented then the one we had last year

Yeah Mincey sliding to right to fill Wright’s shoes is interesting enough without a loss. I think we have more depth at WR than a lot of spots too.

I’d rather have whoever gives us the best chance to win, so neither. I’d rather have depth at the position. Look at Georgia’s roster. They have 19 LB’s, 5 of which are RS Sophomores or older. We aren’t anywhere near close to that. Alabama has 23 players with TWELVE that are RS Sophomore or greater (most are at lease Junior). That’s more than we have on our entire roster. We aren’t close to deep in that position.

Yeah I just looked up Georgia and Alabama. We are nowhere near close to deep.

See my last response to your other post. When you look at Bama and Georgia on D, then it is clear we are not deep at that position. We need more guys and it will happen, but this year… we aren’t deep. Not even close.

I feel really freaking good about our 5 lbs that will play. I honestly don’t give a damn about how many lbs Georgia has that won’t even step on the field. They will only play max 5 lbs all year including mop up duty. Maybe depth isn’t our best Attribute but we got some quality lbs this year
